The department's programs are taught by industry-experienced and academically acclaimed instructors. Its smaller class sizes and instructor-to-student ratio allows for more personal instruction, mentoring, and coaching. Programs are offered at three campus locations in Hayward, Oakland, and Concord.
Continuing Education is part of Cal State East Bay University Extension (UE). UE is a wholly self-supporting unit that develops and markets its own programs, administers its schedules, and registers and enrolls students without general fund support. The departments and auxiliaries under the UE umbrella are: Continuing Education; International Education, such as the American Language Program; Center for International Education; and the Oakland Professional Development Center.
University Extension offers high quality programs and services, both locally and abroad that meet the academic, professional, creative, and lifelong learning goals of its diverse community. Through collaboration with community, business, government, and constituents, UE develops programs that expand student access, and meet the University’s high standards of scholarship.
As the local and global extension of the University, UE furthers the institutional vision through innovative approaches to advanced professional education in the context of a new world of work in a global economy.
