Interesting state park with lots of features. Small swimming beach is nice, water was really cold, but they can't control that. Bathrooms were clean, and appeared to be well maintained. Ranger at the park entrance was friendly and helpful, and explained about the lodge you can rent. I like that one picnic area is next to the stream, and you can access the water, especially if you have kids that want to splash around.
Beautiful park! The swimming pond is too COLD to even wade in, but there's an awesome creek with crawdads and fish for catching! Our 3,5,7 year old had a great time! Playground: A little older, but the kids still liked it! Restrooms: Well kept!
Was surprised at how much I liked this park. Great trails in the river valley with newer signs. Big mature trees with lots of wildlife. There is tons of parking areas, good campgrounds , great day use areas and picnic areas in this park. There is a trout river that runs through it as well.
Wonderful part with an awesome swimming hole. It has a really nice campground right next to it. It has tons of options on things to do like hiking ATV dirt biking swimming and many other things.
Beautiful State Park. The park rangers where very kind. They let me set up camp early which was greatly appreciated! And I seen them drive through the campground often. Upper Campground was very quiet site #82 and spaced nice with privacy. Hiking Club trail was rugged at points but was a great hike by the river as well as prairie. The swimming pond was chilly but great way to cool off after a day of hiking. The only downside was the train that runs by the campground
This place is beautiful! The kids could spend all day near the spring fed swimming pond. It is cold! But, feels great on a hot day. We enjoyed walking along the stream, walking the hiking paths, playing in and near the pond, and just enjoying the view and beauty of nature. We camped in the upper campground and intended to use our bikes to get around but found that not very convenient if staying in the upper campground. Too far, gravel roads, and a very steep descent into the valley. The upper campground was more private and quiet. Bathrooms/showers were nice. I will most likely try to snag a spot in the lower area if with the kids again. Easy walk to playground, trails and swim pond from there. We stayed 2 nights and wished we had one more day to explore. Will definitely come back.
Beautiful state park alo g the Redwood River. Beautiful scenery, lots of camp sites, a swimming pond, great hiking trails. Restrooms: Ther are restrooms and showers at the swimming pond and at the south campground. There are outhouse bathrooms in several other places.
Beautiful park & extremely well taken care of! Great place for hiking. Restrooms: Very well kept & clean.
Beautiful park! We camped in the upper campground where it was very quiet and secluded, lower campground was pretty full and much more open between sites. The hiking was awesome, definitely will come back! Playground: Lower area Restrooms: Amazingly clean for a campground!
This large state park has plenty to offer: fantastic and diverse topology, a variety of campsite types, extensive trail system, large and isolated group camp, multiple picnic areas, a spring-fed swimming pond it’s cold!, great rangers and staff, and some of the best prairie vistas to be found take the Bluebird Trail!. It is unfortunate that Hwy 23 is in such close proximity to the park as the road noise pervades throughout, even out on the prairie trails, which can somewhat remove you from an otherwise awesome experience. Also note there is a very active railroad line adjacent to the park. Trains run frequently even overnight and it can be loud.
