Camp Ashtabula Resort

About

Housekeeping Cottages & Seasonal Trailer Park.

A picturesque resort on the east shore of Pigeon Lake just 100 miles east of Toronto.

An ideal vacation for a fisherman and family in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes.

Description

Our History

Ashtabula; “river of many fish”

In 1972, David and Edith Carter purchased Camp Ashtabula. Originally known as a fishing camp, its founding owners were from Ashtabula, Ohio.

Camp Ashtabula is situated on 25 acres of beautiful, level grounds which are shaded by huge oak, maple and pine trees. It is surrounded by approximately 750 feet of shoreline on Pigeon Lake. Pigeon Lake is unique as it can be accessed by 5 other lakes without having to lock.

Camp Ashtabula has seen many changes over the years. In the beginning, it consisted solely of 7 cottages. A corn field became a seasonal trailer park, three permanent homes were built and two cottages were added to the property. Eventually, the cottages became equipped with their own showers, instead of the guests using a central shower house. Each cottage has seen many modern renovations over the years.

Today, our three – season family resort is now in its second generation of the Carter family. It is operated by son Rob, his wife Donna and their two children Jeff and Jennifer.

The Carter family has operated Camp Ashtabula for over 42 years. The home – like atmosphere and personal service keep our clientele coming back year, after year.

Beautiful family resort with great owners. Cottages are clean and views of sunsets amazing.
Been coming up here 36 years in a row. Family operated. Clean quiet place. A haven from the city.
Very well kept, great people , privacy and peace and quiet when you want it. Fantastic beach and docking for your boat and the sunsets are perfect. The owners, Rob and Donna Carter are very approachable and work they're butts off maintaining the park and giving you the best experience possible. I have a seasonal site here and this will be my 3rd year, and I can't wait for May 1st.
Love Camp Ashtabula. Donna and Rob are so friendly. The camp grounds and cabins are very clean and will kept. The water front is beautiful. We always have a very relaxing and fun time.
I went here as a little girl and now I'm taking my kids and I truly love this place! They are so welcoming! They welcome you in like your family. The cottages are very clean and if you leave something behind they will save it for you and make sure when you come back it's there for you! The beach is beautiful and very clean and they have special things that go on there which I won't tell you ....you will have to go see for yourself!!! All in all this is such a great family place and also a great place to meet new friends! Oh and they also have a park for the kids! So go check it out please! It's for sure my new summer home away from home!
A truly remarkable experience for those who enjoy taking in tranquility and natural beauty, actively boating and fishing some of the best lakes in Ontario, or both. Located within close driving range of many other attractions as well. The owners and the regular renters are all quality respectful folks who are also friendly to newcomers. My family and I will definitely be coming back and all highly recommend this destination for a summer getaway.
This place is quite and perfect for a small vacation away from home. There are many size cabins that you can choose from. Cabins have the Essentials for living, and yes they have TV's in the cabins. The owner's of the park have taken time to provide areas for games such as horse shoes, volleyball, shuffleboard, etc. I would recommend this place for young families that are wanting a nice quiet place to vacation at.
I stayed in the Jennifer cottage and I must say this is the nicest and most modern cottage I've stayed out out of the local resorts I've stayed at Elim Lodge and Camp Fisherman. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They offered free wifi, although it didn't reach our cottage Jennifer is the biggest and furthest away. The picnic area in my photo is all you had to walk over to get a decent signal on the wifi. The only drawback is their boat ramp. It pretty much worthless for larger boats. Its super shallow, I had to either submerge my truck to float my boat off the trailer or push it off the trailer the obvious choice. This isn't an issue if you have 2 people though since the ramp down the road at Elim Lodge is public and very nice. Certainly plan on coming here again.
I spent one week at the end of the summer of 2020. I really enjoyed the cottage, very well maintained, the park is beautiful and quiet and the owners were outstanding. I hope to return next summer. Thank you.
