It's quite a nice place to camp out at if you're into lake activities and biking. But for me specifically I go camping with my dogs and this place does not accommodate pets even though it's pet friendly. You're basically secluded to your camp site or walking around other camp sites. So if you're looking for a place to bring your bestfriend and hike the trails, this place is a no go.
Mapped and explored long lake recreation area during a beautiful Fall day. Lots of beach, camp sites, and trails to explore. Great parking, lots of restrooms and shower buildings.
10/31/21 After a week, returned to the Long Lake Wisconsin Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit. Enjoy hiking: Golden Trees, Green Grass, White Cloud, Blue Sky, Clear Water, Colorful Coast... The colors of the forest are still bright. See more on Youtube, search: Long Lake Sweet Calming
Its a nice place for tent camping. The 6 mile bike path to mauthe lake is very cool. Its not very hard.
Very nice state park! Great trails for biking and walking. Nice clean beach area and restrooms. Had a nice picnic following our ride. Campsites looked nice. Scenery on the trails is nice also. Not very busy on the trails either
Spent the weekend at site 818. As a hammock camper, this site was perfect, with a ton of well spaced pines on the site. We also brought our large cabin tent and there was ample space to set it up. Convenient to the bathroom, without being too close. There's plenty of separation between sites, and the entire campground was clean.
Such a beautiful place to be! Loved camping last year for the first time. Returned this year for a daytime birthday party. The only downside-they ran out of soap in one of the bathrooms on the beach, but rangers drive around often and are very helpful and cordial. Consider allowing dogs near the water areas and placing bag and garbage stations often.
Great camping experience. They have sites with power and even more without. A number of sites have enough trees on them to do hammock hanging. Beautiful and enjoyable beach and lots of hiking nearby. Recommend!
Crowded with FIBS - especially at the camp grounds. Otherwise the place is nice, might want to head further north if you want to avoid the obnoxious Illinois crowds.
We love this place! We come every year a few times. The showers were closed for a full remodel so we're excited to see them finished. They just got trashed by a bad tornado and are in the process of dealing with that. The lake is kind of yucky. It's full of algy and has a mud bottom so its not my favoirte to snorkle, but the beach is nice and it's fine to float around on. its not stagnant. The staff is always friendly and it's a well maintained park with good access to the Lake to Lake trail. It has nice big campsites that allow some privacy. The park entrence is right down the road from a great burger/ice cream joint, The Hamburger Haus!
