In 2007/8 a number of Staff Alumni got wind of the potential demise of our beloved Camp. With Doc Darters help and guidance we organized FOCS as a 501C3 non-profit Tax EIN 45-4253732 and we saved our Lodge from being dismantled. Partnered with the USFS to refurbish the Camp to be used again as public group campgrounds. We encourage alumni to come up, camp, and relive some of those memories.
To support the rebirth of Camp Silverado, allow alumni access and return it to an active high sierra summer camping/hiking/meeting/learning place.
To guide and work with the USFS toward making sure Camp remains accessible for alumni camping, "scout craft" education, and shared wilderness experiences.
All are unique to this special place on earth.
Tent and small trailer camping ... relatively primitive.
Available for instruction and training when an outdoor setting is needed..
