We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
The Cantelmi Long Funeral Home at 500 Linden Street in Bethlehem, (often known by locals as "The White House") was built in 1915 as the personal home of E.J. Mathews, an executive for Bethlehem Steel. The Mathews family entertained many fine guests in their grand Neoclassical Revival home. The richly detailed wood mouldings, elegant stained glass and overall grandeur of this former era are beautifully preserved to this day.
After the death of Mr. Mathews in the 1930's, the house was left in trust to Lehigh University. The University utilized the house as a fraternity house for several years until the early 1940's. Marvin Steyers purchased the property from Lehigh University in 1943, and renovated the building for his funeral home business. The property has continuously served Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley as a family-owned and operated funeral home ever since.
In 1964, Wallace "Wally" Long moved his funeral home business from Oley, PA, and purchased the funeral home from the Steyers family. Wally focused on providing outstanding service and compassion to his clients, and his business prospered. His son, Michael, joined him in the business in 1983, and has continued to provide the unique care and attention to our client families that is the hallmark of our family-run business.
