The staff here has always been very nice. I was not happy with Dr Chris who provided an oral cleaning for my cat. In the process he pulled 3 of her teeth without calling to advise me that it was necessary hitting me with a bill 3x's what I expectedover $1000 and worst of all has left her with an upper respiratory problem that continues nearly a year later. He refused to write an Rx for the diet she'd been put on to gain enough weight for the teeth cleaning leaving us for a month trying to find an alternative that she could eat and losing the bit of weight we'd worked so hard to add before finally giving us an Rx for a second option. No not happy at all with this Veterinarian. The start is for the office staff and the original vet I met there Dr Smith who later left the practice
We have been bringing our cat here for over 10 years because of how great the staff is and how excellent the quality of care is. They are able to squeeze us in for emergency visits due to our cat climbing a tree or getting in fights. Our cat is a little scrappy and they were able to manage him just fine! Because he tried to scratch one of the vet techs they trimmed up his nails and had such a great attitude about it.
I live in SE, land of veterinarians. However, I drive 40 minutes to Canterbury because they are honest, knowledgeable, and priced fairly. I've spent thousands on vet mistakes at other places and I'm happy those days are over. They are good to my cat and I am thankful for their team.
It took me a while to finally write this as I was coping with everything I had gone through. First of all, I would like to start off by saying the front desk was not welcoming at all. When I came in for my appointment, they did not greet me nor acknowledged I was there. I had to walk up and wait at the desk and tell them I had an appointment. I brought in my kitten at the time that was 12 weeks old to be neutered on February 21st of 2022 . I paid for a vet exam prior to the procedure, ensuring me that everything was okay. The vet said my kitten was healthy and ready to be neutered. As I left and waited, I got a call an hour later saying my kitten did not make it through the anesthesia, for an unknown cause. My heart was then left broken and speechless... The vet said my kitten had a weak heart. The vet stated "suspect heart had too small volume due to unknown cause and anesthesia complicated the issue and patient died of the complications". Like how can this even pass??? I know it is very rare for something like this to happen. I just felt like there should be an option or something stated to have blood work done prior if my kitten had a weak heart?? or this could've been prevented during the vet exam if the vet actually listened to his heart for any small amount of murmur. I felt like the hospital did not show any sympathy as I walked to grab my cat carrier. They could've offered a service of free cremation or something. They said it'll cost if I wanted a cremation. This is my experience and my story to tell. RIP to my kitten Leon.
I just acquired a kitten who came with a voucher for a vet visit redeemable at CAH. The kitties' records were transferred to me by email. I don't have a printer so I didn't have a hard copy. They insisted I have the records though I could tell them just what she needed and when. I took my pet and the voucher and left. I have been caring for pets for over 45 years. I have never needed records in hand to do a simple exam and routine vaccinations. Since the recent change of ownership Dr. Chris left it is now solely managed by a vet association this month Canterbury Animal Hospital has really gone downhill. They are disorganized and have erroneous policies. If they can't deal with a simple situation like this I won't trust them with my pet's well-being.
They’ll contact you an hour before your appointment and tell you they can’t see you because there’s no vet in the office that day. You’d think they would know more than an hour before your appointment that a vet wouldn’t be there. Glad I left work early to get my puppy in for her rabies vaccine just be told they can’t do it.
Dr. Chris and his reception team were so compassionate towards us when we needed their help. We had to say goodbye to our senior kitty and they went above and beyond to make this happen as calm as possible. I highly recommend them.
Dr. Chris is the absolute best vet to work with. Unfortunately, I called Canterbury today and he no longer works there. The staff thinks he may have retired but isn't sure. Can anyone confirm Dr. Chris's retirement or know if he is working at another clinic?
Such a wonderful experience at Canterbury. Carla was amazing and so very attentive. Dr Chris and his staff have really hit the mark for professionalism, personability and genuine care. Thank you all!!
