The food here is awesome! The clam chowder and fish and chips are probably the best I've ever had. The clam chowder has so much flavor you don't need to add anything more. The service here is super friendly and attentive.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Canyon Way is a very interesting and entertaining bookstore. They offer a wide variety of books including children's literature, of course, but also have a delightful selection of beautiful jewelry, some clothing as well as great gift items for others including yourself. When their restaurant is finally reopened it will be wonderful to have lunch there. The French onion soup and sandwiches are great and their crispy, house made thin onion rings and strings are fabulous. Our family visited there a few days ago and we all purchased fun and memorable items. Make it a destination when you visit Newport or stop by if you're a local and enjoy the fun and funky atmosphere. There are chairs to relax in and there is no pressure. Informative and witty management add to the enjoyment.
Don't realize how big it is. So much to see. I was restricted by time this visit but will go back to explore. Books can be new or used. Besides books I did see clothes, socks and gifts. I really didn't see even a fourth of the room/building an am looking forward to returning to explore what else there is to find. Parking is on the street or is easy walk from bay front. Didn't see if had public restrooms. Not exactly good for young children as most items are for older children and adults.
Don't miss this gem! Thankfully my book loving son wanted to visit a bookstore on our visit to Newport. A quick search brought up Canyon Way Bookstore. Not only did he find a great book and I found some cool jewelry and gifts for family but we found THE BEST clam chowder and French onion soup we've ever had! Seriously amazing food and a fun shop to boot. Have fun exploring.
Excellent food and drinks in an awesome bookstore with quality live music events. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to go see music - it tends to fill up. Great diversity of books and nice children's area. Also, 21+ only bar area if you want to be isolated.
Cute little bookstore that has been here apparently since 1971! Roguey, the nice old lady who owns the store, was adorable and so kind as to offer us an Americano on the house next time we will have to try the food!
We love, love, loved it! A little bit hidden, but well worth the search -- everything is bursting with freshness and FULL of flavor. From the focaccia and sourdough breads with compound butters which we received with our menus, to the sweet, crisp baby greens on the salad with the best bleu cheese dressing I've ever tasted, to the incredible cream of garlic soup, to the decadent demi-glace on my sandwich and the sautéed vegetables on my companions, everything -- EVERYthing -- was made in-house, and was incredible!
The best French onion soup in the world!!!. Wonderful book store, all the staff very knowledgable and friendly. If you have not tried it, you're really missing out
Excellent food, and live music on Friday. Many Fridays host local bands. Great little selection of books for both adults and children. Wlking distance from the Newport bay front.
For years this has been a place of comfort! you can find the very best soups and salads, not to mention the fabulous main dishes. A must on any trip to Newport.
