Cardiac Rehab services at EAMC are designed to help people who have had heart attacks, heart surgery, stents, angioplasties, and other heart problems.
The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation defines cardiac rehabilitation as a medically supervised program designed to optimize a cardiac patient’s physical, psychological, and social functioning, in addition to stabilizing, slowing, or even reversing the progression of the underlying atherosclerotic processes, thereby reducing death and disability.
At East Alabama Medical Center our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program is an outpatient exercise and secondary prevention program to speed your recovery and educate you in lifestyle choices that build and maintain a healthy heart. The Cardiac Rehab department consists of a staff of nurses, exercise physiologists, and dietitians that can assist you with the physician referral, necessary to participate in this program.
Our services at EAMC are designed to help people who have had heart attacks, heart surgery, stents, angioplasties, and other heart problems. We provide four different programs to help you and your heart. We offer:
1. Inpatient education and follow-up
2. Heart failure Telehealth services at home
3. A free monthly cardiac prevention class for anyone who would like to improve or maintain heart health; and
4. Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation services to help people recover and manage their heart disease after an event.
