So i was told about the Captain Buscio Program by a coworker who was also a first responder and heard how detailed the cardio exams were and became interested. So i was happy to finally able to get an appointment on Sept.5 , 2023 at the Secaucus, New Jersey location. Upon arrival the desk staff whom greeted me was professional & friendly. The décor & cleanliness of this office was A+ ,having snacks & water was also a plus. But my experience wasn't great. Eventually i was called into an office that had certificates on the wall with the last name PATEL so i assumed the man sitting in front of me was this person since he did not have a form of name tag or i.d. His name is Oscar Pizzaro. Though my medical paperwork were electronically signed by Kunal Patel whom i never met. An employee stated it was for billing purposes which i also found to be odd. Anyhow M.D. Oscar Pizarro asked me questions as he should and then after i thought we were done he stood to come around the desk and i thought he was walking me out of the office but he came up to me face to face then started to tug on my t-shirt which covered my chest. I followed his lead then he took his stethoscope and placed it on my chest. The odd things to me were that: 1. we were in an office, not an exam room. 2. He started tugging my shirt up even when he saw that started to do it myself 3. There wasn't a female present nor did he tell me he was going to do that in that office. Even though i am not a physician i know what feels right and doesn't and after my research i found that it isn't advised for a male doctor to examine a female patient in that manner. Without a female assistant, relative or spouse present. As a woman in law enforcement i didn't like how this felt and when i went back out to the waiting area and thought about it since i happened so quickly i needed to replay it in my mind to see why i felt a little degraded. I went back into that office to ask him for a business card and his name i felt like he was trying to brush me off. After he maybe someone has a card at the front then said bye. After returning back to work i askes a male coworker about his experiences with this program. He said in the 5 years he has done it he has never had a physician do that to him and so i know my experience wasn't the norm. The other staff were professional and explained things before they touched me even though they were female so i didn't have a negative experience with them. It's a great idea to have these tests done but I will not be returning or referring any of my females coworkers to this location, unless there will be another physician. Hopefully another female patient doesn't have this uncomfortable experience. Hope this helps someone..
My wife and I had an unbelievable and unfortunate incident at this facility. We had made an appointment about two months in advance. On the day of our appointment my wife was told that she was not on the list. My wife assured the young lady that was taking care of us, that she spoke with someone at the facility and answered all the necessary questions in order to attain the appointment. She was told that there was nothing that they could do. Soon after I was advised that without a referral, I was also unable to be seen. No one at that facility left me a message indicating that I needed a referral. I was also told that there was nothing they can do to further assist me with this appointment that turned out to be a nightmare. As I was leaving they kept my drivers license and my health insurance, and did not even have the courtesy of calling me to let me know that I left it there. I had to drive an hour back after I realized that it was not in my wallet. It’s unfortunate that my past experiences that left me with such praise, also left me with such dissatisfying feelings.
This is the worst office! The staff are unprofessional and lack experience managing patients. We've been trying to get an appointment for a cat scan since January! Rebecca does not know what she is doing and gives us a million excuses. We finally get an appointment at Hackensack medical after 40 days waiting for Rebecca to do her job. Today on our way to the hospital, they tell us that Rebecca did not submit the proper paperwork for clearance. And we could not proceed with your appointment. Are you kidding me??!!! I will never go back. Unless you have the time to deal with bad customer service, then I recommend you don't waste your time here.
I really wish I didn’t have to feel this way but far as it goes with the Secaucus office, In my opinion and experience in dealing with them over the phone, I feel this is a scam they are playing on the heartstrings. This program I believe was started to help firefighters, police officers, emergency responders etc..in Jersey City then around the state providing them with comprehensive testing to save lives. Last week I had to deal with the Secaucus office trying to schedule testing. What a nightmare. I called over there asked about the testing, I was told about the insurance procedures by the woman in the office and then she says well I’ll give you the codes for your doctor to write the referrals. After explaining I’m not in the medical field, I’m not a medical biller and this doesn’t seem like something I should be doing she then proceeded with OK I’ll call your doctor. After calling me back and telling me she had a hard time dealing with my doctor’s she says well we have Doctors here that you could use as a primary and they will take care of all the referrals. Sorry honey I’m not into scams! I’m sure I’ll be ridiculed by fellow responders, but when a program clearly states in their publicity pamphlets no out-of-pocket cost and I was on the assumption that Insurance paying out, did not matter if they paid or not. Honestly seems like these greedy corporate and individuals found a good way to make a buck out of a tragedy. It seems so commercialized that these greedy doctors and corporations are smiling all the way to the bank shame on them!
Started the program in February of 2018. A possible cardio problem was found. A necular stress test was conducted. After review a cardiocath was recommended. Dr. Patel referred me to Dr Andrews at Hackensack. Feeling the procedure was ungent I had the procedure the following week. It was found I needed triple bypass and I was kept in the hospital until the surgery was done. I was told the widow maker was one of the arteries blocked and it was just a matter of time before I had the heart attack. I Consider the Program as My Lifesaver
Nothing negative at all to say. Staff is very friendly. The exam is very thorough. Definitely great in preventive healthcare. Will absolutely be going back.
Amazing service, staff & location.
