The Fairfield Iowa Carnegie Museum is located at the former Fairfield Public Library on the 3rd floor. Various showcases around the museum highlight Fairfield's history. Fairfield's former library is a historical artifact in itself: the first of 1,689 endowed by Andrew Carnegie, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original library tables and encaustic tile floors are one of the many surviving elements of the building. Come to the museum to see the Native American, Pioneer Artifacts, Civil War, Militaria, Parsons College, Birds, Natural History, Local Industry, and many other things!
