The Carnegie Museum (Fairfield’s former library building), was the first of 1,689 Carnegie libraries endowed by Andrew Carnegie.
This Iowa Century Museum’s collection dates back to 1876
We are the 1st Carnegie Library built west of the Mississippi river. The Museum has always been the 3rd floor of the building and now including the basement. We have a collection from Smithsonian taxidermy to local history. We are open Tuesday, Thursdays,and Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm. We are also open every 1st Friday for Artwalk from 6pm to 9pm
