I grew up in South Florida with great Caribbean food around me all the time so I went into Ceniza with high expectations. I ordered the ox tail since it’s a traditional Jamaican dish that I love and I wasn’t disappointed at all! The meat was very very tender and went very well with the yucca and plantains. The dish piled rather high with heavy foods, but they compliment each other. The plantains as an individual entity could be a little better. I found them to be a bit too starchy for my liking, but again, in the context of the dish they fit well. Overall the service, food, and ambiance were great here. We stayed for over two hours getting caught up in conversation and didn’t feel any pressure from the staff to leave. So a very welcoming and enjoyable experience indeed.
This is a hidden gem in Ooltewah 1 of the best dining experiences I've. Had it me and my wife loved the restaurant downstairs and the bar atmosphere upstairs of the C Lounge. The food was awesome I had fried chicken mac and cheese and a plantains. My wife had oxtails brussel sprouts rice and steamed vegetables. The service was great and the food came out in a timely manner everything was up to par and what we expected. After dinner we went upstairs to the C Lounge and played a few games of pool watched the basketball games that were on and had a cocktail or two. They were playing great music not to mention the drinks were good and they also have a cigar room. We will definitely be going back for a few more date nights.
Food was mediocre. My wife ordered the CFC and Mac and in the description it fails to tell you that it's breaded in coconut. I ordered the Elena Ruiz which tasted ok. There really wasn't that much special about this place. Also their drink menu needs to be updated with what they keep in stock and put a use the other door sign bc everyone seems to want to use the right door but it's locked and the staff just laughs at everyone who does it. I guess it's all fun and games for them.
Such a nice place! Great smell when you walk in, and I had actually only come to smoke a cigar and have a bourbon. Great selection of bourbon, and all the food I saw on other people’s plate looked amazing. Great plating, if it tasted as good as it looked, they’re doing it right! Check this place out, especially if you like a fine cigar selection and a good bourbon :
Cocktails were good. Atmosphere is awesome! Food was okay. Portions are good size for the price but the food just lacked that little extra finesse to make it delicious. Great restaurant for Ooltewah and I would go back for cocktails and dessert, but maybe pass on dinner. My husband and I ordered 2 cocktails, an app, a sandwich and an entree and our bill was $55. Not bad, but not great!
Had a wonderful experience. We split the coconut shrimp and the Cuban Sandwich, the food was off the charts good. Very friendly staff. We will be back for sure.
The drinks are great! I had a rum & coke with dinner and a Cuban coffee after. The coffee was AMAZING. The steak sandwich was quite plain and disappointing. But the coffee made it worth it.
Great vibes, service, drink, and tasty food. Pictured are the veggie tacos. Highly recommended!
My family was in Cleveland for my daughters graduation from college. I asked her to pick a restaurant that we could all go to after her graduation. She picked Ceniza. We arrived with a party of 8. They were preparing for a wedding party of 300 that night. They were a running behind a little bit. They got their ducks in a row and had incredible service. The food was about as incredible as the service. Everybody in our party was delighted with our dining experience. Then to top it off, the owner or manager gave all those seated in the restaurant at that time 20% off. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is a nice place when you want a change of scenery from downtown or chain restaurants. The place is smaller, but in the warmer months the patio is open to provide more seating. One of the few places with outdoor seating We got there at 6. There were a few open tables, but the hostess said they were reserved for people who made reservations. So, we opted to sit at the bar. Good thing we did because otherwise we would be waiting about 45 minutes! The food was good, moderately priced with lots of flavor. The menu isn’t very expansive, but they have gluten free and vegetarian options, which is nice. They have about 5 or so beers on tap, but a good liquor assortment. They do mojitos by the pitcher, but not margaritas, which I found odd. The negatives would be the service. I’m not sure if it was newer staff, or inexperienced, but they weren’t very attentive. There also needs to be better planning with the reservations, in my opinion. One party who reserved a table of 4 never showed up, so people were waiting to sit with an open table for over an hour. But, other than that I recommend this place. It’s not somewhere I’d frequent, but it’s a nice local place in Ooltewah and good Cuban food!
