The Center for Art & Theatre offers public performances, art exhibitions, and events throughout the year. In addition to one act plays and student performances, the Black Box Theatre presents four major productions in its state-of-the-art facilities. The theatre is the only one of its kind in the region. The Center for Art & Theatre contains four galleries and house two diverse permanent collections. The Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection, a continuously expanding gift established and curated by Betty Foy Sanders, Bulloch County native and wife of former Georgia Governor Carl Sanders and the family-friendly Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection, a collection donated by the late Statesboro historian Smith Callaway Banks. The collection is made up of over one thousand folk art pieces representing Southern traditions. Additionally, the Contemporary and University galleries feature revolving visual art exhibitions by both internationally renowned and emerging artists.
