Center for Political Accountability is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization created in November 2003 to bring transparency & accountability to corporate political spending.
The Center’s aims are to encourage responsible corporate political activity, protect shareholders, and strengthen the integrity of the political process. As a result of the efforts of the CPA and its partners, a growing number of leading public companies, including many in the S&P 100, have adopted political disclosure.
The Center has produced reports and conducted surveys on issues related to corporate political activity. In October 2010, The Center began publishing the CPA-Zicklin Index of Corporate Political Accountability and Disclosure, ranking the political spending practices of companies in the S&P 100. CPA plans to expand the Index to include all of the companies listed in the S&P 500 beginning in 2012. It has also has written op-eds which appeared in such publications as the Financial Times and BusinessWeek.
