Center Grove Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1977 by 5 community members…Ronnie Reynolds, Robert Krack, Vernon Poe, Robert Thomas and Paul Caves. They had approximately 20 Department members. On January 7th 1979 The Fire Dept suffered a fire that destroyed the building as well as 2 trucks and equipment, the members did not give up….they constructed a new building and purchased equipment…..well today Center Grove Fire Department has as a member the last surviving founding member Robert Thomas and he is still active with fire calls, medical calls and training when able to attend. Robert has held several positions in the Fire Department including Chief…..Robert was the First member to obtain his EMT certification
