Absolutely love this place! Paper scoring and no frills. Would recommend coming here for some Candlepin Bowling then checking out the surrounding neighborhood. Good prices as well.
Was looking for candlepin bowling while we had family visiting for a fun activity and Saccos was booked out and the next closest place was in Wakefield. So we gave Central Park Lanes a shot after calling and checking first to see if they were busy. And they were completely empty when we went there on a summer Sunday afternoon. Had the place to our selves! The location has street parking, shoe rentals, 24 lanes 12 downstairs and 12 upstairs, and they let us bring in our own food and beverage! Which made for a really cheap family activity. I think the lanes were $25 an hour and shoe rental is $4 each. You keep your own score and have to press a button to reset the pins but I liked the old school technology and it was well maintained although a bit run down. Likewise this place was cash only. We had a great time. First time candlepin bowling they gave you instructions and we just went for it! Would return to bring visitors again.
Central Park Lanes is a true gem. Good price, byob, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the scoring. This is a place that you hope time doesn't change. Good for families, good for groups, good for your next birthday party!
Mark and the Boys at C.P.L. were awesome! My son and I traveled from Utah and they gave us a true New England experience. They took time to teach us to score, gave us some pointers and made us feel welcome. The price was great. C.P.L. Bowling is the real McKoy. These guys hit it out of the park!
Odd but fun....not sure I'll be able to get used too it but it's hilarious trying
I've been going to these lanes since I was about 3yrs old --now 44-- and the only thing that has changed is the price but still affordable lol. I recommend Central Park Lanes to anyone that plays candel pin and the ppl the work thier have never changed in thier service and attitude. I might be particularly about the lanes I going bowling at but these ones are the best out there bar none.
Joined a league here and I'm loving every minute of it! Great people, great old school vibe and they don't mind if you bring your own food/adult beverages. The crew couldn't be nicer and bring you into their fold quickly.
They were closed when we showed up an hour before closing
Wonderful small candlepin bowling. As other reviewers have stated, it's a time warp back to the 1950s! Jukebox plays your choice of music over the loud speakers for everyone to hear! Vending machines, but no liquor allowed according to the posted signs. About $2.50 a game a person, a bit more on Saturday's. Open till 10pm m-t, 11pm Fridays and Saturdays and 8pm on Sunday, according to posted hours. Wonderful spot!!
