If metro wasn't here life would be different for me. The station is great, most busses are kept in fair enough condition, and most drivers are pretty friendly and knowledgeable on routes and such. The inside is also nice. They have a little information desk with a couple informational employees to help with your metro needs. Also has a concession type room to buy snacks and drinks.
You know why you driver's don't get paid good? You don't care about doing your job right. The 30 just flew right passed me going to center station and there are 3 other people sitting in the designated area. I'm not making it home in Davenport. I even ran after the bus and it stopped for a second and just kept on going.
Late buses, the travel board rarely works, no one is ever in the office, lack of communication to drivers is obvious. Do not rely solely on Metro if you need to get to work, you will be fired.
Its a crappy bus stop station. There are four hard metal tables on one side. Two on the other side of it. To each side of the doors inside there are two metal benches to sit on. They have a sideways tv with bus routes on it. One tv facing the other way always playing either CNN news or Fox News. If you like boring waiting rooms you would love this. I feel like it's part of hell so if you can drive a car for the love of god do that.
Bus driver stops several feet ahead, stops for someone else, waits 30 seconds then leaves next to Moline, Illinois Fareway. You can't predict a bus driver's behavior.
The bus service is great but with gas approaching 5 dollars a gallon and the quad cities being one of the the lowest cost of living places in the country we don't make much. We need this service running 24 hours a day now
What can I say, It's a bus station, but it is nice. Plenty of spots to sit at. Well-lit, appropriate signage, and information. The inside of the station is clean and comfortable with seating, a snack shop, ATM, and Bathrooms. Adjacent locations to eat, and drink.
This service was engineered br Dr. Seuss. The people are generally very friendy. For not the first or second or even fifth or sixth time, I am stuck at my bus stop because a driver decided to change routes. I don't mean the route changed. I mean the driver, while en route, made the call entirely on their own to skip several blocks including the bus stop I am at with the name of the bus flashing on a ticker. I have watched them do similar things while on the bus. That is the kookiest thing I have ever heard of in my life. Where else in the world do they do this? This being because of a train that had taken a very long time, thus holding up the bus. I had already been waiting an extra ten minutes watching this train before discovering it was not coming. Somehow getting the bus to the next hub 10 minutes late instead of 12 is more important than making sure the passengers are on it. This train business, by the way, is by design. Two of the main central hubs E. Moline and Moline are just beyond train tracks that follow the river. Where trains frequently stop and change course and hold up traffic at length. 10-15 minute delays which in turn cause missed connections are a daily occurence for any and all busses. The ONLY explanation for such an unnecessary and ludicrous design flaw is an actual fire-breathing demon gained some influence in city planning. If you plan on being disabled in the Quad Cities, plan on being a shut-in, because they can and will turn a 10 mile trip to the grocery store and post office into a an ALL-DAY excursion. Want to go from East Moline to West Davenport? Ha. Better do it on a weekday and make your business quick if you plan on coming back the same day. It's no wonder so many of us take bicycles. We count on the bus letting us down. Just don't actually count on being able to combine them. They have a policy where they will not allow even the smallest bike foldable on an entirely empty bus. Better predict others' cycling habits, because if literally two other people are using the bicycle accomodations they boast about, it's no ride for you. Oh, and the drivers insist on beginning to drive before you have a hold of anything or are sitting down. Even if you things in your hands. How this hasn't led to reported injury is a miracle. So here I am. Stuck in 90 degree heat with two huge totes of laundry. Not the least bit surprised at my frustration.
The ladies at centre station gifts are nothing but rude and snooty. They think they are better than everyone at the terminal because they have cars. If you absolutely have to make a purchase at the gift shop avoid conversating with them at all costs. Either something rude will come out of they're mouths or they will just laugh at you. Most unprofessional service ever.
Metro link bus service has gone way down hill as far as Customer service standards are concerned. A person should not have to wait a half hour just to ride halfway to their work. All the supervisors and route managers need to be replaced with people that care about the safety of their riders.
