Come in and enjoy a time for creativity, relaxation, and create wonderful memories while building great relationships with family and friends. It is something even young children can easily do. We will show you everything you need to know.
By offering a mixture of contemporary and traditional opportunities for everyone, from the beginner to the experienced, you will find something new and exciting with each visit.
Contemporary ceramics refers to the opportunity to choose bisque, a piece of clay which has been poured, cleaned and fired in a kiln to harden it, and paint it with glaze. The finished piece will then be fired a second time to create a sealed beautiful surface.
Secondly, we offer bisque ceramics which have been poured, cleaned, fired and are ready for you to paint using acrylic or other paints. Let your creativity flow as you paint your masterpiece. With the help of our staff you can learn to dry brush, stain and use other painting techniques.
Finally, we also offer, a less common option, known as greenware. This option allows you to choose a piece that has been created in a mold but that has not have been fired. Greenware allows you the opportunity to not only clean the molded ceramic piece, but also edit or change it and create your own design.
STUDIO POLICY
Helping you learn, enjoy, build relationships and create your Masterpiece are our major goals. However, sometimes things do happen. Since we sale various types of ceramics, greenware, bisque poured in our shop along with purchased pieces we make every effort to carefully examine each piece for damages or cracks.
Occasionally there will be a piece that has a “hairline crack” on it that we do not see before it is painted or fired. Most likely you will not see this either. If you choose to glaze these pieces the crack may expand and become noticeable or actually break the piece when are “fired”. Please carefully review our policies below:
PIECES PURCHASED FROM CERAMICS AND MORE: If your piece is purchased, from Ceramics and More, completed in the shop (not taken out), AND the damage was not caused by you Ceramics and More will replace the piece and allow you to return, at your leisure, and to repaint the piece at no extra studio cost.
PIECES PURCHASED ELSEWHERE OR TAKEN OUT OF THE SHOP: Since each shop prepares and pours slip differently we cannot guarantee any greenware purchased outside our shop. We are not responsible in any manner for these pieces if they crack, split or blow up in the kiln.
PAINTED AND GLAZED PIECES: Our experienced staff will offer recommendations regarding painting and glazing but the ultimate decision on how much paint is used and to ensure each piece is finished correctly is your responsibility. It is important pieces that are being fired are cleaned properly (no dust) and the pieces are covered evenly with glaze. If you use glaze purchase or use glaze purchased outside our shop we recommend you bring the bottle with you to allow us to determine the glaze time and temperature. We still cannot guarantee your piece but this does allow us to ensure we are accurately setting the time and temperature.
FIRING ESTIMATED TIMES: We make every effort to have each piece ready within one week from request or drop off. However, Kilns are machines used to fire ceramic pieces. Since they are machines, they sometimes breakdown. We are not responsible for a piece not being ready due to a Kiln malfunction or power outage. We will make every effort to let you know if something occurs to delay your pick up.
PIECES LEFT IN OUR STUDIO: We are not responsible for pieces left in our studio more than thirty-days. We will make two efforts to contact you by telephone. After that pieces may be disposed of at our discretion.
DAMAGED OR BROKEN PIECES: When you leave pieces at our studio, we provide you with a designated area for your items to help ensure their safety. However, we are not responsible for pieces that may get accidently broken. Of course, if our staff damages the piece during the process of firing or if we must move the piece, we will replace it and refund the glazing and firing fees if purchased from our studio. If purchased elsewhere, or handmade, we will only refund the glazing and firing fee.
PRICING and STUDIO FEES: Pieces in our shop are priced to include a studio fee that is all inclusive for one-time painting or glazing and/or sealing of the item. This does not include specialty paints, glazes, snow, decals or other special or additional items which may be added to the piece. If you are using your own paint and supplies (brushes, cleaning tools, sealer, glaze, etc.) the price is reduced. Please ask a staff member for the reduced price. If you use our paints along with your paints the full price is charged.)
SPECIAL ORDERS: We have hundreds of molds available for pouring. If you request a special item we require this be paid in advance. If you decide to cancel the order after it is poured an in-house credit will be issued.
RETURNS: Paints and glazes may not be returned once they have been opened. If there is a problem with any product please see a staff member. We will assist with any damaged items.
