Chaps Restaurant
"A tiny cafe and bakery on the edge of town. It's where we gather to prepare and eat fresh delicious food, drink strong coffee, listen to great music and surround yourself with art, neighbors, friends, and community. Chaps is a great place to meet a friend or make a new one. We can't wait to serve you."

Such a hidden gem. Located in a shopping center with ample parking space. The decor is shabby chic with Mediterranean influences. The outdoor patio is lovely. The bakeries baked freshly and displayed for visual appeal.Atmosphere: 5/5
Wonderful eclectic design. Food is beyond delicious! The bakery items are plentiful and all looked to good to eat, but eat you will! The croissants come in many flavors. Be warned… it is first come first served! So you many luck out on some of the popular items, which are most of them!! Come ready to eat and relax! The staff is super friendly and attentive. The outdoor area was wonderful to dine in. It was like being in a private garden. Highly recommend!!
A very country chic breakfast spot! I have been trying to go here for the past 5+ years as I've heard a lot of good things! I moved out of Spokane area but recently had time to check it out. The food is pretty decent but I do think this place is overhyped. This was our first time here so definitely expect a wait. The ordering system is a bit odd and I feel like other reviews don't discuss this. You basically wait in a long line that wraps around the main area. There are menus in the middle, and you order food and everything at the counter, but they do assign you a table before getting up to the counter. We visited on a Saturday and we really don't mind waiting waited 2 hrs for the yards once day and we spent over an hour in line just to get a seat and place an order. It seems like a lot of tables are empty and there would be better/quicker turnover of customers if they followed a normal ordering process of seating tables as they come in. I understand why they choose this: to have less back and forth with the waiters and probably hire less staff given the staffing shortages but this also results in way less tips for them! The service at our table was extremely poor, no refills of waters or anything offered. I'm not usually a complainer about service either. The food and coffee was great! The Hash browns and bacon were cooked to perfection. I'm not sure if they follow this ordering system for dinner, but I'm not sure we will be back simply because of this issue. It was worth a try!
The food is so incredibly good. I always order my eggs over medium and I RARELY get them served to me that way, but I have been here 3 times and they are always spot on!!! Impressive to me. I always eat the food way too fast to get good pictures- oops! The pastries are beautiful AND delicious, I’ve not been disappointed yet but the cinnamon rolls are my favorite so far! The staff is all really friendly and helpful! I would say the only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is that I don’t personally love the way you have to order everything at the front before you are seated. If you want another drink or decide you want more, it’s not very conducive to that. I get that it might be what works best for them, I just really don’t prefer it.
On Saturday, June 10, 2023, we dined at Chaps. It was my first, but hopefully not last, time. Upon arrival, we walked past the outdoor seating that looked very pleasant and into the lobby area where you order. Yes, you do put in your order up front and then they bring you your food. We had a party of six that included my wife, two children, my in-laws, and myself. Our total was $106—not cheap but also not unheard of. I ordered the breakfast burrito. It came with chorizo, pinto beans, egg, and potatoes. It was cooked perfect, the tortilla was crisply satisfying, and it was tightly wrapped so it wasn’t messy. It was delicious and fresh. The portion was huge and cut in half…I ate one half in the restaurant and brought the second half home. One thing I do want to call out is that the description of the burrito in the menu wasn’t entirely accurate. Although the menu said the potatoes would be served on the side they were cooked inside. Also, egg wasn’t mentioned on the burrito’s menu description but was included. Thankfully I like both egg and potatoes so it wasn’t a big deal to me that it didn’t reflect what was presented in the menu. My wife ordered the chicken biscuit and I can say on good authority that the biscuits are out of this world! My children each got the kids burger and the serving was anything but made for a child—which was awesome in my book! The French fries served with the burgers are shaped like spirals and so good! The décor of the restaurant is nice. We did have to wait a little longer than expected for our food but it was worth it. We will return.
Cute breakfast place! Thought it was just a coffee place so came not hungry for food just desserts but they have a pretty good menu with some savoury food like Egg Benedict. The blueberry toast was really good tho! And pretty great coffee! Atmosphere was my favorite the umbrellas outside felt like Greece, very aesthetic. A nice quite date place to sit, sip on coffee and enjoy taking to your favorite person
My sister and brother-in-law brought me here this morning after talking very highly about it and it's a really different experience I've never been to a place like it their bakery looks delicious it's all photo worthy the staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is very mood settling. A little advice i seen the country gravy and tried to order from the table and couldn't so next time I'm just gonna order it at the counter but steak and eggs were cooked to my liking and tasted amazing. Definitely going back
Great experience, until it wasn’t. The only thing I wanted for my birthday was to have breakfast at Chaps. My husband had never been so I was very very excited to show him how great the ambiance, food, and service was. We were even able to leave our two little ones at home so we could finally go on a date together. While we were leaving my husband wanted to get a picture of us because it was my birthday and we never get out without our kids. I said no but my husband insisted. My husband asked a server who was walking by if she would snap a quick photo. The server responded no, I’m too busy. Being a server myself I know what it’s like to get busy and think taking photos isn’t my job or to be burnt out on photos but I have never in my 12 years of serving responded to someone like that. It was surprising in the worst way. Especially because when we do take photos I always say it doesn’t matter what it looks like, it’s just for memories. A very kind guest stepped in wished me happy birthday and took the photo. However that photo will be my reminder to think twice about coming back to this establishment. In the end I hope the server reads this and thinks twice about what a photo might mean for someone.
My niece and I went for restaurant week, I can't put into words how incredible everything was, the food, our waitress Hailey, the band and the owner. It was the best food we've ever had. I can't wait to go back again!Food: 5/5
We had SUCH a great time eating DINNER out at Chaps. The live music was a treat. Our server, Megan, was wonderful and incredibly capable. She handled a really large group of birthday peeps while attending to the rest of the tables. Hope she/they can someday soon have someone to work alongside her. I never order meatloaf. Nor have I even ever made it at home. But I just had a craving for it tonight. So, Bison Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies it was and it really hit the spot. Really large helping of it, too. They do make it with a lot of well cooked onions. It makes it moist. I liked it. But thought I'd give a heads up in case you may not be into onions. The BBQ sauce on top is spot on delicious and pairs really well. Husband had his usual Beef Stroganoff and liked it as he always does. And it wouldn't be an intentionally belated Valentine's date without dessert. We tried the lemon chiffon cake and loved how fluffy light both the cake and lemon filling was. Not at all overly sweet nor too lemony. It was the perfect light dessert to pair with our fairly heavy meals. Oh yeah, almost forgot. We even shared a salad. They are working on fixing the hours of operation on Yelp. So, if unsure if they are open for dinner or not, just call. But their website and GoogleMaps appears to list the correct hours.
