Jim and Kathy are extremely kind and generous vineyard owners! The sense of joy and pride they take in their craft is palpable both in their delectable whites and reds, as well as in the joy radiating from the two as they educated two self proclaimed "craft beer drinkers" on the wines of Chateau Niagara. We enjoyed learning about how "opening" certain wines via a good swirling changes its aroma and taste profile. Not to be neglected nor forgotten is Finn the English Shepherd, who is the sweetest door greeter ever and such a good boy
I stopped by here with my wife and sister in law. It was the first time we had ever visited a winery. We had a wonderful visit! Jim the owner sat down with us and created a custom tasting based on our preferences. He was delightful and engaging and taught us a lot about winemaking. His knowledge of the Niagara climate and soils and how they contributed to the quality of the wines was outstanding. Even better was the quality of the wines themselves. We really enjoyed the Cabernet Franc and the Saperavi. I highly recommend this winery, it’s well worth the trip. Thank you again Jim!
Jim and Kathy, who run this super lovely winery, are the most wonderful people! The guided tasting was a highly personalized and engaging experience and it was clear from the moment we entered the winery that Jim and Kathy are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They produce a wide range of wines really well, going beyond well known varieties. We especially loved trying the Georgian style Saperavi and 'A La Mode', as well as the Pinot Noir which was made using a novel technique developed at Chateau Niagara. Of course their signature Cabernet Franc is not to be missed. We were so glad to have come across this gem during a weekend trip from Toronto to the region and can't wait to come back!
My husband and I visited Chateau Niagara yesterday for the first time. We were beyond impressed. We are brand new to the world of wine and Jim sat with us during our tasting explaining how we could best find the difference flavor notes in the wines, what the different processes and styles represented, and so on. The wines were amazing and we left feeling educated and wanting to return. The quality in this small scale winery is exceptional. I highly recommend a visit!
Folks when you visit Chateau Niagara Winery you are in for a real treat. Jim and Kathy Baker the owners of Chateau Niagara are some of the most passionate wine makers you will ever meet. When you arrive you are greeted with an amazing vineyard, an old style Chateau building, their Vineyard Dog Fin and a feeling as though you just walked into their home. Jim and Kathy take you on a journey of their story and as each wine is poured you can just feel that you are in for a real treat of some World Class Wine. They engage with you like you are the only guest and really know their wines. Talking about the foods to pair to the history behind each wine leaves you excited and wanting more. We serve many of their wines at our restaurant and our guests have enjoyed them so much they became Members of their Wine Club. Please stop out and see Jim and Kathy it is more than worth the trip. Highly recommend.
Beautiful experience at this winery! We did the the testing and everything was explained to us with so much detail and passion, it was lovely. Can’t recommend it enough if you have the time to stop by have a really really good boy doggy too We even bought two bottles.
Best winery in Niagara county. Jim and Kathy are always friendly and knowledgeable. We love to visit with them, they are the best!
My husband and I have been visiting Chateau Niagara for a few years and we love it! They have the best dry wines in the Niagara region. The whites are crisp and bright, while the reds are rich and robust. Jim and Kathy are very knowledgeable and love to share the history behind the grapes and their wine making processes. Cab Franc is king at their winery and it shows with the different ways that they are able to manipulate the grape into many different flavor profiles. As wine club members, we sure do enjoy the free tastings and discounts, but most of all we love visiting with their dog Fionn!
This was truly the dark horse of our vacation. We're not really "wine people" but we couldn't pass up the chance to ride our bikes around and visit wineries. Chateau Niagara was our first stop, and we were blown away by everything. This unsuspecting little winery delivers big on views, education, and wine. Jim meticulously ran us through their entire selection, and each taste was delicious - even the wines I'm not particularly keen on! You can definitely feel the love and hard work these folks put into their winery. Wine tastes are subjective, but I can guarantee you will have a wonderful time here. But we all know Fin the Winery Dog steals the show.
My husband and I stopped in for a wine tasting and had a wonderful experience. Some of the best wine I have ever tasted and Jim was a great host. We will absolutely be back.
