My favorite brewery in Oak Island/Southport located a little down the road from the Lowes Hardware in a small strip shopping center on the same side of the road. We came here on Trivia night Thursday with some friends who are locals. Great crowd and our group had a blast first place in the first round. More importantly the beer is good, had a sampler. We actually came to Check Six twice in our last visit to the coast, the other time they had a small car show in the parking lot. Highly recommend if your a craft beer guy or gal and in the area!
Awesome experience! This was the first time here, really enjoyed the experience. They had a live band that was amazing. First tied a single then a flight, I have to say impressed with all of their beer. The bartender David was awesome and attentive, the beer was awesome and the atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommend this place!
No food but they do have popcorn and they don't give a flip. If you bring in food from somewhere else. The staff is f'ing awesome. So friendly and helpful. The beer is phenomenal. They let me try a couple things they were still working on and had some great local restaurant recommendations. Only down side for me, was that they didn't have very many merchandise selections. I really wanted to get a t-shirt for my boyfriend but they didn't have any sizes to accommodate and no hopes for ordering online or in the near future either. Otherwise, full stars. Loved this place, the beer, the people.
Absolutely amazing! David was our man, he helped us enjoy 2 flights of tasty brews. Some we loved, some were more inspirational beers to cook with or pair with different meals. He helped us learn about different events that check6 has including: karoake and trivia. He was very helpful and let us in on local hangouts, and how their beer was implemented in various local restaurants. He informed us that they do offer the sale of kegs in many sizes to fit any need, be it large parties, or small gatherings. I would say the best part was how invested and excited he was to represent the company and its beer! I believe check6 is run well for its ability to maintain such enthusiastic employees, and would absolutely recommend to everyone!
They need to work on having dedicated hours. I have shown up a few times during business hours and they were closed. Too often the bartender is rushing people out well before closing. Honestly I am officially done here. I have been run out well before closing too many times. Apparently 10 people is slow and cause for closing early at 8pm. During the day it might be good or for events and I might show to one of them at some point. However I am done with going in there on random evenings to spend my money only to be told I can only have one beer 2 hours before closing because they want to leave early or after I get one beer that they will be closing soon and I have to hurry up or whatever rude thing they feel like saying. It's expensive here. It's $5 a beer. That's really high to be treated in such a manner by the staff.
Nice taproom, super beer and friendly staff. Must try the Double IPA!
Pretty good beer, especially enjoyed the chocolate stout. Little disappointed that they were out of the red, Irish stout, and porter. Also wish they had more than snacks but they encourage you to bring your own food and there is a Quizno right there which we utilized.
Love this small town micro brewery with a small bar and live music on Saturdays. Favorites are Harley Pope Porter and Wendy's Blonde Ale. Great place to kick back with a flight of some of their new brews and relax.
A full service home Brewers paradise! Super customer service. Additionally, a great selection of brews on tap. Horrible parking! Life goes on. A very popular place for microbrew aficionados! A food truck may also be there.
Super friendly, veteran owned and operated. Dog friendly. Always fun.
