Chenango Valley State Park has some pretty great trails to check out! The park has landforms from the glaciers, including two kettle lakes. Chenango Valley State Park has a decent amount of wildlife sightings. The colors of the leaves in the fall are absolutely gorgeous! I would recommend checking out the trails if you're in the area.
Chenango Valley State Park is a large NY State Park that offers much to do. The park offers camping, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, and golfing. You can come in for day use or stay a few nights camping. Over 20 miles of hiking trails are contained in the park. Most of the trails are easy to moderate. They are located by and follow the two lakes in the park. Most of the trails were covered with stone, were wide, and easy to follow. Trail maps are offered on the park's webpage. For fishing you can bring a kayak or canoe onto Chenango Lake. Fish species in the lake are bass, chain pickerel, perch, panfish, and tiger muskie. There are places along the lake to fish. Swimming is also offered at the lake and it seemed to be extremely popular. There are over 200 campsites at the park. Some of the campsites are large. Cabin rentals are also offered. Go to the park's webpage to reserve a spot. The golf course is popular and is very nice. Try to book a tee time ahead of time to get on. Course is not overly difficult, but is fair and challenging. The best part about the park is the variety that it offers. There is something here for everyone. Playground: Many playgrounds located throughout the park. Restrooms: Many restrooms located throughout the park. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome here. Picnic area: Lots of places to picnic here. Grills and picnic benches in many places throughout the park.
We went down there for a concert at Endicott golf thingy,, I was not happy about the cabins because I thought they had showers but they did not. SO WE DID NOT STAY THE WEEKEND AS PLANNED AND PAYED FOR.. .. I guess I must of read the description wrong but on the plus side we got to meet some great peeps that own some awesome retro trailers and we have 2 that we are going try to remodel so that was a win win ..
Beach playground is being updated for 2023! See my pix! Dog friendly, no bags. CVSP is close to my heart. Large acreage, lovely park that runs along the Chenango River and old Chenango Canal for which there are markers and my favorite walking trail with Sycamores and Eagle sightings. My grandfather and his brothers were part of the CCC group that helped build it as young men in the 1930s. The stone masonry is really beautiful, I was told that the arches were built by Irish immigrants. There are two camping RV and tent areas with pits, tables and electricity. The dumping station is fairly new. Cabins are available. Boat house with rentals available. People fishing for trout. Swimming includes a deep water diving board, all in a freshwater lake. Sand bottom. Kiddie area includes fun splash and play park. Changing rooms, showers and a seasonal concession stand. There are a few areas with lovely pavilions for reservations. Walking and mountain biking trails are all around. There's an 18 hole golf course in the park. It's well maintained and pretty challenging. The entrance fees vary on weekends and weekdays. There is a senior discount. Dogs are allowed. The security is pretty visible and well patrolled, so watch your speed!
Spent the long weekend in a cabin and enjoyed it very much. If the shower is inside, the cabin would be perfect. It's a very clean and nice state park with activities.
This park doesn't disappoint. This is my second time camping here and I love it. I like that the park offers electric hookups at some of the sites, however they aren't as private as some would like. The bathrooms are kept very clean, as are the grounds and other facilities. I had no problems with cell reception here, something that can be an issue at other parks. I visited during the off-season and wasn't able to fully utilize all of the amenities available here but I can say the lake and beach areas are nicely kept. All in all I'd gladly make the trip back here again. Playground: I don't have kids but can say that the playgrounds vary throughout the park. Some of the loops have swing sets and / or a slide, while others have newer equipment. Still plenty of things to keep the little ones busy. Restrooms: As mentioned the bathrooms are kept clean. Dog-friendliness: I don't have a dog but I know dogs must have current rabies papers and be kept on a leash at all times. I believe there is a two pet limit. Other than that they are dog friendly. Although there isn't a dedicated dog park here, there are lots of places to walk. Picnic area: There are several picnic areas, most of which have ample parking and restrooms nearby. There are also a few pavilions available via reservation. One of which can hold a few hundred people!
There are some beautiful things to see here. And the out of the way hiking paths are quiet and peaceful. Always prepare for ticks: about 50% in Broome County may carry Lyme.
A really nice state park, well taken care of, a golf course, walking paths, beach front lake to swim, camping, cabins to rent.
We did a 3 day2 nights camping trip at Chipmunk. The overall experience was great. For the campground, our lot #70 new/#75 old... yup... confusing was a little rocky but we managed to have our tent up. For our kids, several well built and maintained playgrounds are around campsites and attractionsbeach. Public restrooms are accessible by campsites and attractions. American Grill provides nice choices of food if you get tired of cooking. We 4 grown ups and 3 kids really enjoyed our time there. We'll be back to explore more. It's regularly patrolled and that makes me safer. Playground: There are multiple playgrounds available by campsites and attractions. The one close to the beach is most fun for our young ones. They are all well built and maintained. There are bigger and smaller structures for bigger kids and toddlers. Restrooms: They were great at the beginning of the day. As more and more people used them, the floor started to look a little muddy. They did the jobs for us at least. I never encountered any restrooms without toilet papers or soap. And they are clean enough for the basics. If a cleaner restroom is needed, try avoiding the campsite ones especially later in the day. Dog-friendliness: Dogs seemed welcome here. Picnic area: Lots of picnic area.
We’ve been coming here on the summers. This was our first time camping, camped at the sunrise loop. The sites are huge, most of them very wooded and secluded. Bathroom and park are a short walk from most of the spots. 23, 24, 22, & 25 area. We also did a birthday party since you can use picnic tables to set up for free. They say one per group. The swim area and splash pad are neat. The canoe rental is decently priced. There are trails and fishing too.
