Chi-Town and Union Station
"Chi-Town Union Station is now the world's largest O-Scale model railroad, and also home to the world's longest model train. We are a modified walkaround exhibition layout offering four- to seven-foot-wide viewing aisles. The tables are to the left and right of the walking spaces and vary from knee-high, waist-high, to shoulder-high, with tracks from nine feet overhead down to and beneath the aisle floors. Children five years of age and younger get in free! We accept large group tours during open season, which runs from November until March. Call today for more information!"

Huge train layout with many trains running. We spent almost 2 hours and it felt like we were there just a short time. Railfans, families, little kids - something for everyone who likes trains!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Really good time for my wife, 2 kids 4 & 1.5yrs old and I. Great layout with tons of trains in operation. Only $5/adult and all kids 5 and under are free with paying adult. We did two laps and were in and out in just over 1 hour. I could have hung out longer! Highly recommend checking it out!
Wonderful place showing replicas of trains that ran on the 1950s to 60's. They spoke about the routes which the trains ran and showed little model replica 1950s town America. Even the model trains had little people and details in it. It recently reopened in November 2021. The building is deceptively nondescript outside, but inside it was amazing to see the model replicas of people, trains, and historic America at that time. It was a lot of fun and we took our time reading the little historic remarks and getting the feel of the time period. The volunteers and staff were friendly and answered our questions. After that, we got some ice cream at the DQ across the street.
Great spot for a wholesome family trip. Amazing what these men and women have done to create the tracks and landscapes in this building. Worth the trip.

I have visited several train museums throughout the United States, but I have never seen one like the Chi Town Union Station in Commerce Township. The scenery is just utterly fantastic and realistic. The trains are eklectic in nature anywhere from Steam Engines to the Silver Bullet Express trains. I like the extra touch of the old stores having names 4 people that have worked on this treasure. I highly advise it a visit to this Museum especially during the holiday seasons. I have taken my wife, a daughter, a son-in-law and grandchildren to this Museum.
Super fun. The owner will answer all your questions. Really well thought out display. Well done!
Took my dad for his birthday. His Dad worked on the Burlington Northern in the 30's. Very realistic.
Very impressive place. If you, your kids, or any of your family are in to trains, this is a must visit!
Amazingly large model railroad with a LOT of trains running in all directions and very well done backgrounds, buildings, vignettes, etc. The longer we were there, the more and more things we noticed. A lot of the sides have been brought closer to the floor so kids can see better. Some are higher so you may need to lift them up a few times. Owner and other staffvolunteers? were very friendly.
