Fantastically curated rail depot museum. Admission is by donation and there are some nice items available for purchase. We spent about an hour there and that was with reading all the signs and looking at every display; you could definitely get in and out quicker but it was time well spent. Lots of historic info related to the area and the mining industry too. Staff member was knowledgeable and helpful.
A very well-organized and well put together little museum run by knowledgeable volunteers. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and interested in Wisconsin history.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Beautifully appointed restored interior, friendly knowledgeable volunteers. Recreation of stationmasters office. Enjoyed the model railroad reproduction of the railroad operations in Mineral Point. Very worthwhile visit.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Small but very nice museum of the history of railroading in Mineral Point. Lots of old tools of the trade and photographs on display, plus a large HO layout upstairs of the old switching yard. Staff is very friendly. Just wish there were some actual train cars or an engine on display!
Very nice little museum.
The page listed as a train museum it looked like just a depot it was closed despite what the sign said nothing outside to look at granted couldn't see much thru the windows but didn't seem like there was much to see we felt like this was false advertising as a train museum
Small but well presented. Good coverage of area history and culture as well as railroad information.
Seems like a really cool visitor place to visit I was there because it was the end of the ATV trail
No photos allowed. Very nicely curated.
Surround yourself in history, when Mineral Point was the largest city in Wisconsin.
