A hidden gem and worth a visit for the background on Chicago's illustrious and fascinating fire department history. I've taken visitors there to stand at the point of origin to the Great Fire. Indeed, in my experience, out-of-towner's enthuse more about this than locals. The flame monument warms spirits and inside is a delicate display of Chicago Fire Department History. A German visitor of mine often reminisces about his Flame visit more than his ride atop the Willis Tower. Worth it if in the neighborhood and part of other activities.
Great place to see some history of the Chicago Fire Department, including the major fires the city has faced and the wall of fallen firefighters. An instructor, Andre, gave my husband firefighter and I, a fascinating tour, full of awesome information. The pride he has in what he does, the facility and his trainees, really shines through when talking with him.
Excellent tribute to a great Paramedic

An impressive facility and see the marker identifying the spot where the Great Chicago Fire began.
