The Chickamauga City School System is committed to "Working Together to Ensure a Tradition of Excellence Continues."
The Chickamauga City School System is located in Chickamauga, Georgia, a town of approximately 2,500 people in Walker County, near the Tennessee border in Northwest Georgia. The system was officially established by the General Assembly of the State of Georgia in 1905, and CCS is now in its second century of educating the students of the Chickamauga area.
Chickamauga City Schools enjoys a rich and proud tradition of academic excellence and strives to continue that tradition in the changing times of the present and future. We are truly committed to working together to uphold our tradition of excellence for each student we have the privilege of serving within our schools. We have in place a Three-Year Strategic Plan for Continuous Improvement which we believe will propel us to greater achievement on behalf of each student.
The Chickamauga City School System is composed of three schools. Chickamauga Elementary School serves grades kindergarten through five; Gordon Lee Middle School serves grades six through eight; and Gordon Lee High School serves grades nine through twelve. The system has a current enrollment of 1,324 students. Approximately 54% of the student body live in the surrounding counties and apply to attend the city school system and pay a minimal tuition fee.
Each of the schools within the Chickamauga City School System has been continuously accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since their initial accreditation (Elementary School-2002, Middle School-2004, High School-1932).
A total team effort exists at the Chickamauga City Schools in approaching the important work of school improvement. We recognize that in order to achieve and adhere to the highest learning standards we need a high quality staff, involved parents, and a supportive community. Staff members continue to focus on quality instruction, research based strategies, data-driven instruction, and support for all students to reach the standards.
