About

The Children's Discovery Museum aims to provide local families with an interactive, child-focused space to foster discovery and learning.

Description

Imagine a child friendly space right here in Cowlitz County where children and their families could engage in imaginative, interactive hands on learning during those rainy Washington days...

The Children's Discovery Museum is a gift to the community. It will provide a "pop- up" children's museum and the opportunity to facilitate family and kids (age up to 17) engaging in imaginative, interactive, hands on learning in a safe and supportive environment. We will have a variety of exhibits to explore imaginative play, the arts and sciences.

The Children's Discovery Museum is a volunteer run museum. As of November 2016 the museum is housed in the Three Rivers Mall next to Macy's.

Starting in January 2017, the museum will be open Wednesdays 11a-4p and Sundays 1p-4p.

This project will not be possible without the support and enthusiasm of community members. So please spread the word to your friends and family. We hope that you and your family join us on this adventure.

Full of fun science stations with lots of local flora and fauna that they take out of the case and allow you to touch, hold and discover. Features include: -a mock shopping area to learn about local produce and commerce - microscopes for kids to use with interesting slides to see and investigate - free science books and a learning library -a permanent robotics station -a large permanent Lego station - free interactive science events on the weekends that feature guest speakers and demonstrations -a science and theater station for kids to put on their own puppet shows -a coat check area up front to leave purses, coats and diaper bags in a safe space. Great road side parking, a wonderful, free place to spend the day with your family. Please consider bringing a cash donation if you visit. All ages are welcome, but kids ages 3 - 14 would have the most enrichment and fun.
Great place for kids and family's to come play for free. They have legos, large building blocks, a mini grocery store, toddler area, a doctor's station, puppet show theater, drawing stations, and much more.
Everything is so much fun. I take my nanny kiddos there and I have to peel them away when it's time to go home. All the volunteers are so nice and helpful. I absolutely reccomend it!

This place is amazing!!! Great for kids and kept me busy too! There is so much to do. My 5 kids never found them selves bored. Who doesn't want to build a giant stick cabin? Highly recommend this place.
Such a wonderful place to fill your mind with anything you could possibly think of with your imagination! After realizing it's ran by donation and volunteer only I was shocked! There was so much for my daughter and I to do! She went and played until her imagination was full while I was in the science lab looking at different specimens through a microscope! Then we played school and painted rocks!! I can't say enough great things about this place and the people who volunteer to be here for the children! Everyone we encountered was beyond sweet and helpful! Thank you for being such a wonderful addition to Kelso!
What a treasure! Free is an amazing price. Staff was friendly and my 2 & 4 year old and my husband were occupied for a solid 2 hours with Legos, dress up, doctor and dentist pretend play, grocery store, and more.
The staff here is SO kind and loving. They allow kids to play and learn and grow all in a very well kept area. I am in love with this place, my son has a blast! 12 out of 10!
This place is the gem of Kelso and Longview! My kids 3 and 1 have amazing experiences every time we come here. The more kids come, the more they absorb from the educational environment. Parents are there to supervise, and the volunteers are excellent. All the kids play together beautifully. And it’s FREE folks! Every town should have one of these places.
