Until we enrolled our son in Children's Manor Montessori, we knew he had the potential to excel but just needed the right environment to do so. We enrolled him into this specific program because of the self-lead strategy implemented at Montessori schools. Since his enrollment in April, we have been elated with the progress seen in his personal, emotional and intellectual development. His ability to socialize in groups, navigate positive and negative emotions, problem solve and absorb educational material has far exceeded our expectations. Of course, a significant part of the reason for his growth can be attributed to the central tenets of the program, but it cannot overstated how much of his growth we attribute to the performance of their caring and top-notch staff. The team at their Ellicott City location have taken a personal interest in our child since his first day, and their interest in his overall development has continued through to the present. We are so thankful and appreciative of everything they do for our child. In addition to the superior care provided to our child, I would be remised if we didn't highlight that the school puts on plenty of extracurricular activities, which encourages parent/guardian involvement, and maintains clear and effective channels of communication with parents/guardians. We are happy to give Children's Manor Montessori of Ellicott City our stamp of approval.
We have been very happy with CMMS - Ellicott City. Our son started with one of the junior classes at the age of 3 and moved up to Pre-K honors at 4. The academic curriculum at CMMS is extensive. It prepares your kid for a great start at the elementary school level. With the amount of knowledge that CMMS provides, I am very positive that kids from CMMS -Ellicott City are above most of their peers when they enter county public schools. A daily report of your child gets to your inbox. Also, we get to see what curriculum and worksheets were completed by our kid at the school on an everyday basis. That helps to know where your child stands in terms of progress. Teachers are very open for discussions and ready to hear any concerns that parents bring to their attention. Overall, there is always a very happy environment at CMMS. Our son is always excited to go to school!
Our Kids have been going to CMMS at EC for over 2 years now. Over that time frame, we as parents have observed a great improvement in the ways our Kids have grown academically and socially. They have the best teachers there and our kids loved all of them. The school definitely has helped bringing in a lot of discipline in kids. The school follows Montessori system and have a well established curriculum. The school sends the day's work of the kids back home and that helps us monitor the progress very well. The school also provides enough time for the kids to spend time outside in the play area which is much needed for their age. The school also has enough parent teacher conferences to discuss on child's progress and address any questions parents have. Overall, we are very happy that we chose CMMS as a school of choice and we certainly recommend it for anyone considering this school for their kids.
CMMS has awesome educational curriculum and wonderful teachers. My son have been with CMMS since June 2019. He loves his teachers Ms Seloni and Ms Laxmi. Administration is very friendly, and helpful. They have all supported and took well care of my son's special needs. Thank you !!!!
We’ve had both our girls at CMMS for 5 years and have had a great experience. Wonderful teachers and staff. We feel they are well prepared for public school. They’ve done a great job adapting to covid regulations and making us feel safe during this crazy year as well.
My experience with Children’s Manor Montessori in Ellicott City school goes back 12 years ago. As a child with Dyslexia, ADHD, and who also was struggling in school, my mother decided that it would be a good idea to put me in a summer school. One where I would be able to learn at my own pace and catch up with the rest of my grade. She considered the Children’s Manor Montessori summer school and thought it was a great fit. This is where my personal experience comes in. I at first loved the school, my teachers seemed so nice on the first day. Sadly, that didn’t last long. It turns out during the day we didn’t do much other than solve word searches. Me being dyslexic found this increasingly hard to do- I mean come on, a dyslexic child and a box of closely jumbled up letters is a recipe for disaster. So not only was I always the last child still working on it, but the teachers would get furious with me for it. There was another girl there who fell asleep on her paper, didn’t finish the puzzle and both teachers said it was cute, didn’t get upset with her at all. I am sure it was obvious that I was really struggling with this simple task, but instead of being reassured I was patronized. The two teachers I had would get aggressive with me, frantically circling all the words I could not find, all the while stating that “the words are so EASY to find, how could you NOT see them.” One lady even remarked that I must be stupid or something because of my inability to complete this task *cough cough* that had absolutely nothing to do with what I learned academically in school that year. For the rest of my time at the school I was subjected to sitting in the back of the class room alone. I was not allowed to even look at what the other kids where doing. Both of the ladies would tell funny stories or read books with the class, all of which I was not allowed to participate in. I think at one point I was even unable to go outside with the other kids. This may seem like a lot, but I wanted to share my story because this experience still angers me today. Looking back and realizing that I was only an 8-year-old child when these absurd things happened shocks me. The experience was very traumatizing, I lost almost all self confidence in my intelligence. I didn’t do word searches for years after that. Bottom-line, for me this summer school SUCKED ASS. I really hope the school and summer school now have improved their programs and upgraded their teachers, but to be honest I highly doubt they have. I KNOW I sure as hell will NOT be sending my future child to this school or summer school.
Very nice school indeed. The interior is not as fancy as some pricey schools but the teachers are amazing!
