Our favorite library ever. We come every week for books, great planned art and craft. Also we have been following this cute project of hatching the baby chicks. My kids love coming here.
I totally disagree with those reviewers who posted disparaging remarks about the staff here . While the stresses from a day's work , sometimes with difficult patrons , might cause one to be impatient , that is very rarely the case here . HOWEVER , there are other , major issues here . Out of the whole community , only 102 people have given this once great library a thumbs up on Facebook . What does that say ? I have loved this place for almost 50 years , but the decision of the present director to allow its exceptional classical music collection to be gutted , along with much of its history holdings , breaks my heart . I pray that the board will wake up and prevent the gutting of Plainedge's incomparable classic literature collection Jane Austen to Hemingway . While it is understood that space is not infinite , destroying the proud legacy of previous directors and staff is no way to serve the community or build one's own legacy . Libraries have traditionally been conservators of the best in our culture , quiet retreats as well as active workplaces . I do hope the Library Board wakes up !
Whenever we go to rent movies, they always have the latest up to date movies we want. It's really a nice quaint place to consume media, if a bit outdated in some of the cataloguing services. Overall, a nice decent place to be.
I go to the library each week to pick up one of their "Grab and go" projects. My granddaughter loves making those projects. The librarians are always pleasant and friendly.
Friendly staff. Easy to navigate. Looking forward to the remodel! Good things on the way!!
It is always loud in there. Currently there now, annoyed and ready to leave. I've had to leave on multiple occasions because it is impossible to focus. If it is not the library visitors being loud, it is the staff. During the week it is usually the visitors that are loud, and the weekend, the staff. Although I live really close, I will not return to this library.
Good services provided, not as many as farmingdale or Bethpage libraries but ok. Good wifi. Decent selection of books and media. The staff is great, always helpful, specially children's area.
