Most advanced Kung Fu School in Pinellas. Is an honor to have Master Nick Scrima as my Sifu for the last 12 years.
A true Traditional Chinese Martial Arts Center. Shifu Nicolas Scrima is Grand Master Young Chen fu's Lineage Sixth Generation Shifu. Shifu Scrima's life has been dedicated to Kung fu with great passion. He teaches external and internal styles with great attention to detail. The benefits are many, besides the ability to self defend but equally important the great benefits to my health!
I don't know what those other two parents are talking about. But if you just want to go some place that will blow smoke about how great your child is with the child not putting in any work then this studio is not for you. But if your child is serious about their art I highly recommend master Scrima. I have been to other places that just promote your child for showing up and not on their technical knowledge and skill. Not the place for us so I was so thrilled and impressed when we started here. The master is extremely knowledgeable and motivates his student to strive for their best. My daughter is determined now to be the best she can be. As for the comment from someone about not feeling like a team that statement is so not true. We have been to several tournaments and all of the students in attendance when not competing were walking around cheering on their fellow students. My daughter has also made friends during the tournments from all over the world. I highly recommend trying this studio.
I was a student at the Chinese Martial Arts Center when it originally opened in the early 1980s. When I joined the school I had several years of experience with another martial art. That style emphasized flashy kicks, but it was not practical for self-defense. I often found myself on the ground when 'sparring' with my friends. After only a few months at the Chinese Martial Arts Center, my skill grew beyond my own expectations. A friend found himself thrown through the double doors at my high school after he jokingly 'tackled' me in the hall. I didn't even realize what happened until after the fact. I moved several times, and attended many other martial arts schools, but never found a school that compared. After moving to Florida, I was pleased to discover Master Scrima is teaching in Clearwater. I started taking classes again, this time studying primarily Tai Chi. I consider myself fortunate to have found this school again and encourage anyone who is interested in martial arts to come in for a visit.
An unwelcoming environment for parents, no interaction with Master Scrima unless you're buying a uniform, and very poor communication from administrative staff. A small space, with a wall that makes it difficult to view the class. The two teenage instructors were good, so one star for each of them.
Our kids have been taking classes for several months. The kids classes are well structured and the teachers are great. There are two teachers for each class so all the kids receive individual instruction. They have learned so much in such a short time. I would recommend this school to any parent.
With over 30 years of martial arts experience I can tell you that this school is the real thing. If you want a cookie cutter, black belt factory...this school is not for you. If you want Integrity, respect, and authentic Chinese martial arts, you will not find a better school. It was a privilege to study there.
The Reception is rude,but the instructors are great I tried 3 paid sessions in Kong fu and I wanted to try thi chi to Make a Educated choice on which program I wanted to buy but the receptionist was trying to control my Decision and wouldn't let me try the 3 paid sessions for thi chi and rudely hung up after asking to talk to the owner, so thank you but I'll take my money else where
