Dr. Cary Carpenter and CFMA

Description

Dr. Cary Carpenter is a graduate of East Central University and 1991 OU Medical School graduate. He worked as an Emergency Room Physician for several years before opening Choctaw Family Medicine in 1999.

In September 2006 we hired Physician Assistant Billy Sanders. Billy is very knowledgeable and has become an integral part of our team.

Our clinic also works with many schools to help teach and train new medical assistants, Physician Assistants, and Medical Students.

On the cutting edge of technology, in 2004 we established an Electronic Medical Record System and in 2010 we made improvements to a newer more advanced EMR with patient portal capabilities.

Since inception Choctaw Family Medicine has grown considerably becoming a choice clinic in Choctaw and the surrounding areas. VOTED BEST Medical Clinic in Choctaw, OK (Readers Choice Awards; 2012 and 2013 Choctaw Times) We care for patients of all ages and are truly thankful to them for allowing us to be their MEDICAL HOME.

I love Dr Cary Carpenter. He has been my PCP for 15+ years. I have seen him go out of his way to answer phone calls from patients after hours. And has always been attentive to my medical needs, and cared for my family in a moments notice. I'm so grateful for you, and your staff! THANK YOU!
Dr. Carpenter is attentive and listens to his patients. He truly cares about what is best for me as his patient and not the corporate runaround. Thank you for being such a great doctor to me and my family for years past and many more to come.
The practice is in shambles. My family was transferred to the P.A. without even letting us know. Well, Billy is overwhelmed and tasked with more responsibility than he can handle; he's rushing and making mistakes, mistakes where they really count. The staff isn't handling paperwork correctly, the transition to SSM was a disaster. Not sure where Dr. Carpenter is, but it's time to hang up the old hat if the plan is to put Billy at the helm.
Overall my experiences have been quite positive regarding care, emergency situations and communication between the staff and I! I’m a bit put off regarding my scheduled appointment times and the amount of time I’m actually in the facility. Once per month I schedule a visit simply for a medication renewal and I’m waiting for 1-1 1/2 hours in order to see Dr Carpenter for 10 minutes. I still give them a high rating and I would recommend to friends and family
My mother has been trying to get an appointment for 2 weeks now and been told that there is no opening. She has a bladder infection and need meds. Was told that they can't call in any prescription and was told to go to an Urgent Care Clinic. What good is it to have a Dr. she has seen for a lot of years, if he doesn't even want to see her. Terrible service.
Dr Cary Carpenter is always nice and efficient. since the first time my wife and I have been going there he's been treating us like family. His office staff. Are always friendly and sweet they always go above and beyond. Their place is always clean and organized. they're waiting room has a big color TV where you can watch HGTV which is very interesting all the time.
I’ve been going to this office for a couple of years. The office staff is very friendly, as well as helpful. Dr. Carpenter was “ok” until recently. He ordered blood work on me and the results showed that I needed to be on a medication which is somewhat common. Instead of prescribing that med or similar, he told me that “he could definitely help me”. By that he meant only with the medication that he advertises all over his office. This medication is not covered by insurance and costs $350. every three months. I said that I really didn’t want to add that into my budget. He said “sorry” and that was it. I had just felt like I had a death sentence put on me and started tearing up. I checked out and left crying. He saw this and had no care or concern. I went to another doctor with my test results and was immediately put on a medication that is completely covered by insurance. Dr. Carpenter did not even offer an alternative which is the usual prescribed med Doctors are supposed to help us, not put their own agenda to put more money in their pockets at the expense of a patients health.
Terrible service here. I had to change my primary Doctor after changing insurance. I had an amazing Doctor but unfortunately she didn't take my new insurance. Made an appt with Dr. Carpenter and was highly disappointed. My previous Doctor was treating me for about 5 things. When I was talking to Dr. Carpenters nurse she told me to narrow it down to 2 things to talk to Dr. Carpenter about. She said "you know how doctors are". Well yah I know my Doctor would sit down and listen to all of my issues. So if Dr. Carpenter will only see me for 2 things what do I do about my other issues?? Just hope they go away on their own?? No. Find a different Doctor! Don't waste your time.
Billy you broke my heart and did me wrong. I am your patient. I asked to speak with you, you talked through your office staff, did not even give me a moment. I am a retired disabled veteran who is uses the Veterans Administration for certain care and medications because they are free. The Choctaw clinic, you are my primary care provider, and have a list of all my meds. I ran out of my anti depressant "zoloft" called for Billy to call it in to Walgreens in Oklahoma. Billy you told your staff that I needed to come in, I told your staff while you listened close by that I was in Puerto Rico for the last eight months taking care of my mom who died 14 Dec I would be back 22 Jan. I have been without for zoloft four days and was crying 24x7. We are under constant Earthquakes, in Puerto Rico everything is closed , no electric, no water-- Billy I was told your orders were for me to go to an emergency room. Thank you, I did. My deductible $500.00, they gave me a discount because I paid, so my prescription and vist to the emergency room $352.00. My zoloft came out to $2.00. Where is the empathy. The med I asked for is not a Narcotic. I have been taking zoloft for 17 years. I chose your clinic because of other military Tricare patients recommended you and you are close. You did not care.
Felt belittled I was concerned about my health left the office crying worst experience of my life . Treated me like I was lieng. If a patient is concerned about a certain issue test for it . Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had .the receptionist were the only thing nice about my visit.
