This college's dual credit courses are not handled well in the high school setting. They do not honor their initial stated syllabus and will negatively impact a student's GPA. Instructors are allowed to change due dates and not allow students to get assignments turned in. When attempting to reached out we were denied the chance to even speak to anyone. Assignments are not graded timely to allow students to adjust how the complete them to appease what the instructor wants. Poor customer service and an disservice to to young students that want to pursue any college in their future. This is geared toward the program through Coleman ISD. If anyone would like to reach out to me and help with this ongoing issue it would be appreciated. This is not an isolated incident, several students are and have been impacted.
If I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. This place is HORRIBLE. Getting in touch with anyone in the financial aid department is a nightmare, and when you finally do get someone, they’re incredibly rude and act as if they cannot be bothered to help. It has been an awful experience from the start trying to go to school here and I will never recommend it to anyone. Good luck trying to get anything accomplished here because nobody will help you.
The 5 stars is all for Rick Lopez. I had a lot of trouble getting phone calls answered but Rick always answered. He spent almost two hours explaining the processes of everything. He gave me advice and was very personal. He did not get frustrated with all of the questions I had for him. I am very grateful for the information he shared with me. He’s awesome!!
Financial aid dept is an absolute joke. 1 word answers about financial aid? Me: Do I qualify for aid Cisco: no Me: what options do I have? Cisco: take out loans or pay out of pocket. No wonder their nursing program has low pass rates and the school only has 3 stars. What’s a joke.
Awesome staff! The guy in the front is wonderful and helpful. This school provides opportunities for anyone and will guide you to the right path for life success. Xoxoxox Soon spring 2024 graduate
I have emailed 2 times requesting information regarding the nursing program and was told to look it up online and then I reached out by phone to amy cohen and she was very unpleasant and unwilling to answer my questions. I was dismissed on the phone and am still left without answers. Terrible service.
Horrible school and worse faculty. I attended Cisco concurrently with another, larger college a few years ago and had a horrible experience with Cisco. Fast forward a few years and someone else in my family attended and the issues were largely unchanged. Everyone in the financial aid office needs to be fired and replaced with individuals who want to do their job. They cant tell you what you'll owe for a semester, won't assist in filing financial aid AT ALL, aren't capable of providing answers to even basic aid questions. Next, the instructors for some of the courses are not just unhelpful, they are bad teachers. If people wanted to just show up for a test, they'd sign up for online courses. The instructors don't cover material that assists in actual learning and they pride themselves on trick questions which is a big no-no in real education courses. It doesn't aid in learning and has actually been shown to hinder development through numerous studies. Teach good courses and have good easy to understand exams and Cisco likely wouldn't be the laughing stock that it is. I realize the school cannot afford to hire the best and brightest, but that should preclude them from hiring decent instructors. Saying "I'm not going to cover what is on the exams, you have to study too", isn't an effective teaching strategy. Yes, students have to study, but to then throw out trick questions that ultimately need to be thrown out after the exam is taken does nothing for paying students. Hopefully Cisco improves in this area, but it hasn't happened in the past 10 years, so expecting it to happen is a pipe dream. Good luck to future students.
This is by far the most disappointing college experience I’ve had. The staff is rude, impatient, and not nearly knowledgeable enough miscommunications or misinformation is ABOUND in the financial department. On top of all of this, they’re impossible to reach over the phone and incredibly slow by email, and they’re usually so confused that it doesn’t help, anyway. The teachers, while nice enough, do NOT KNOW THEY’RE SUBJECTS. There are sexist comments and inappropriate discussions for a classroom. I spent two semesters here, half of which my days went to battling “processing” paperwork, inability to reach their limited, ignorant staff, and paying more than I should for classes that aren’t actually in session half the time that actually happened; a teacher actually told my English class that we would only meet for half the scheduled time. I will not be coming back and I suggest not attending in general.
The lady at the front desk was very pleasant. She has helped me get the information I needed for my son to attend school in the fall. That was no problem. Trying to get in touch with people from the Financial Aid office to speak with anyone is an issue. Cisco has been very slow about the whole process when it came to letting us know if his application was accepted. Now we are just waiting to here about the Financial Aid part, plus scheduling his classes. Will there be online courses due to Covid? What do we need to do to get him signed up? And plus I have my own questions about my own FASFA application too. My course is supposed to start next week. So where do I go from here? Cisco really needs to do a better job with their communication skills. Got me wondering if it's a racial thing or what? All I know is someone needs to contact me ASAP! Has anyone else had these kind of problems with Cisco? It wasn't like this in years past. Now they just don't care.
I recently graduated from here, and I loved it. I'll miss this place when I continue my education elsewhere. If you're a vet, you'll be in good company, and the VA coordinator, Barbara, is amazing. If you're thinking of using your GI bill, do it. Do it now.
