They have so many events every week for kids. If you’re a mom with young kids this is the place that you want to be. So much fun stuff for your kids to do they have balloon shows, they’ve had magicians, they’ve had reptile people, they once had a paper plane demonstration it was pretty cool. My kids have taken several classes here at the library. We just loved it when my kids were little.
Organized library but way too noisy. If you’re looking for a library to study or work this is NOT the place for you. I gave it the benefit of the doubt the first time I went but I tried different days and times and it’s just always constantly filled with people who love to talk or laugh out loud.
This library is geared for kids babies to middle school age in particular to get them excited about reading and wanting to learn with extensive reading programs and special programs and events. They offer different age group Storytimes during the week for babies /toddlers and up, with some weekend Storytimes for families. The library is split in half with the adult section on the left side of the building, with a large picture-window reading room full of magazines and newspapers and a huge fireplace and on the right side is the children's side with the Welcome Desk/ Checkout area in the middle as you walk into the library. As for the Library's Special Progams/Events, they are sponsored by the Friends of the Danville Library, a dedicated all-volunteer non-profit organization. What the Friends of the Library is able to sell at the 6-day-a-week Friends Bookstore or the quarterly Big Used Books and Media Sales in the Library's Mt Diablo Room, the money raised goes to pay for new Library materials and the special programs/events for the community. Throughout the year, special library events can be cultural, such as Chinese New Year including a Lion Dance, educational, such as Dr Suess's Birthday Celebration, or having Symphonics Storytime, a local youth symphony plays live music and reads a story to babies through early elementary aged school children and have a craft-making activity afterwards. Yesterday, Symphonic Storytime was reading "Beauty and the Beast" set to the Disney animated musical. Afterwards, the Library provided silver handmade paper mirrors for the kids and their parents/grandparents to decorate and take home. It can get noisy, as other reviewers have noted, but there are signs posted throughout the library informing patrons of the special event and time duration the "noises" will occur. The free 4-hour parking lot next to the Library /Danville Community Center buildings is run by the town of Danville. It can get full fast during the day. Have to park along Front Street or the Front Street Public Parking lot 3 hour limit. My only con: The library's heavy wooden glass doors don't have an automatic door button for people who are either disabled or have to push a stroller to get inside.
One of the best-looking libraries I've ever been in, it's well-lit with high ceilings and a huge lawn frequently used for childrens' activities and just all-around chilling. Great book sales as well.
Everything about the library is great except for the people that work there and management. If you’re a person of color don’t come here. You will be disrespected and talked to I’m an indignant way. They will defend each other and act as though there is nothing wrong with this behavior.
My kids and their cousins lots of teens go there to study. It’s such a cute place with a big grass area out front.
Came here to study for a test and catch up on some homework but found it impossible with so many people speaking loudly and nonstop laughing. The staff was no help after I mentioned the issue to them. Definitely will not be coming back.
Perfect study space. Beautiful, well tended to, and plenty of open places to sit and get some work done. Staff is friendly; the selection is solid; and if you need a wider range of books, their Link + catalog will take care of your needs.
Nice, clean library with friendly service!
Wonderful quiet space to concentrate.
