AQUAPONICS is a centuries old growing technique that utilizes the abundant and natural nutrients discharged by fish to grow plants.
Clean Fresh Food (CFF) is an aquaponics facility located on certified organic farmland in the Town of Montrose, Wisconsin. In an aquaponic system, fish wastewater flows through biomedia and is broken down by nitrogen-fixing bacteria into nitrites and then nitrates, which are utilized by the plants as nutrients. Wastewater from the fish serves as organic fertilizer for the plants, while the plants clean the fish wastewater for its return back to the fish tanks. The system can be run without pesticides and, because the fish environment is spacious and clean, without antibiotics. The only input to the system is the fish food. We are looking for retail grocers, restaurants and institutional food service partners within 50 miles of our facility who strive to provide the freshest most nutritious food possible.
