Clear Lam is a developer and manufacturer of innovative flexible and rigid packaging materials used with foods, health care products,and electronics.
Clear Lam was founded in 1969 as a manufacturer of laminated films for a limited category of food products. Over the years the company expanded its developmental and manufacturing capabilities to produce a wide variety of products including rigid materials, thermoformed containers and specialty equipment used in modified atmosphere packaging systems. The equipment and thermoformed products businesses were sold.
Today Clear Lam is focused on flexible and rigid rollstock. In addition, Clear Lam operates CL Polymers, a business unit that produces unique, compounded additives that are sold to other companies that extrude, injection mold or blow mold plastics.
Clear Lam's manufacturing facilities include two locations near Chicago and one location near Nanjing, China. A variety of manufacturing disciplines are available including blown film extrusion, cast sheet extrusion, flexographic printing in the United States, rotogravure printing in China, laminations, coating and slitting.
Since 2005, Clear Lam has been developing materials and packaging designs that minimize impact on the environment. This initiative is called Project EarthClear™. It has become an ongoing effort and is supported by extensive investment. Three main areas are highlighted:
