This is a great park! Our site was in the sun which we needed for Star link, but there are many other sites in the trees. Some have full hookups, some just water so pay attention when you make your reservation. Bathrooms were clean, sun sets were beautiful, deer visit the field in the center of Prairie Clover campground at dawn and dusk, there are owls that swoop around in the trees. The fireflies were AMAZING and plentiful-they looked like twinkle lights at Christmas! We stayed here to be "close" to Topeka and Kansas City while we adventured in both cities. We'd definitely stay here again-even just for the deer and fireflies! Nearby activities: University in Lawrence is beautiful and they have several museums on campus that are worth your time. KC has so much to do and see we did Prairiefire museum, money museum, national museum of toys and miniatures, Nelson art museum, a splash pad, and caught fireworks from overland park. Same with Topeka-truck henge and Brown vs. The Board of Education National Park. We only had three days, otherwise we would have seen much more!
Primitive campgrounds are well kept however, the place is crowded due to the lake. The bathrooms are absolutely terrible. For the price of the campground, you ALSO have to pay 5 dollars a day to enter...kind of stupid, but I was hoping for the money this place would have upkept and decent bathrooms. Especially for a statepark. Nope. One of the bathrooms is bolted up, the other is left open, its filthy, and the entire campground has to go to that one. My point is, dont bring toddlers or little kids where you may need to use the restroom facilities.
This is a huge park. Bring something to ride. We checked in after hours on our own after scouting what was available. The pads are huge and your closest neighbor is about 30 feet away. The campground was so sparsely populated that our closest neighbors were 100 feet away. The park is very clean and we'll kept. We took a walk and the whole thing is pretty flat. The dump stations are on the way out. The pads we stayed at had water and electricity. The bathrooms were clean and large. I wish we had more time to explore the park. We didn't even see the lake. I would go back and stay a few days. Walkability: Flat and ample walking areas
We recently took our granddaughters here for a week and they had so much fun. The RV Sites are clean, spaced well apart and level. Restrooms are clean and playground was fun for the kids. We love Bloomington East the best.Service: 5/5
I was there right before their official season started on April 1st. There were not a lot of people there. And it was exquisitely quiet. Well maintained the staff was nice and very helpful. The bathrooms were clean and the park well maintained. I will definitely come back. The only problem I had was there was no water at my site which was Prime and had water & power capability. But due to the faucets not being frost free the water was off. Both at the sites and at the dump station. There was water in the rest rooms and showers but I desperately needed to fill my RV potable water tank and was not able to. I also did not find any reference on website or posted in the park about the water. So if it's important to you ask before you go.
Great, spacious campgrounds off of the lake. Plenty of great stuff to do with or without the lake. These sites are much more spacious than the ones on the other side of the lake by the corps of engineers, but those are pullthroughs and I think they have some paid laundry machines as well.
Very close to Lawrence, Ks. I can find many a place to relax and unwind or go on a walk. State Park pass purchase with my vehicle registration is well worth it.Location: 5/5
Don't go here the place is a dump, the ladies that work the phone told us the wrong information twice. We were told that we could camp in the spot. That we picked that was marked by numbers but, then a park ranger came and screamed at all of us,he told us that we couldn't camp this because thier used to be a toilet thier. There was no signs saying we couldn't camp there and the camp host said we could. The showers are all broke, half of them have no locks. The bathrooms are all graffiti up, rust all over the bathroom doors. Mariana is over priced, it was 14 dollars for sum weights and some hooks. I'm never coming back, don't come here, it's a dump full of outdated bathrooms and showers houses .
Beautiful lake, fun and spacious. Love this place! Great for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, picnics, and family fun.Location: 5/5
Looked terrible, campsites needed grass trimmed around all hookups for electric and water. Several campsites looked like vagrants have been living there with trash and junk laying around. Go to the Corp area and camp there! They keep their areas maintained.Rooms: 1/5
