We look for items that have been in the stores in the past few years and pay you cash on the spot! We also buy shoes, handbags, and accessories. We sell our items for at least 70% less than regular retail prices and offer you about 1/3 of our price! Our hours are 12-5 on Sunday's and 10-7 Monday- Saturday. I went here to simply browse as someone referred me here, upon entering the store I realized that the clothes were of mid to low quality there was Old Navy mixed with some Coach and Michael Kors. Nothing that wowed you. And then while speaking to the owner or manager, she was quite a bit condescending, but I brushed it off. I returned a half hour later to sell a few items and these were high ticket items. These were Dolce and Gabanna shoes. And also including some shoes by See by Chloe every item that she looked at she had a problem with those Dolce and Gabbana shoes she claimed that the heels were too high for her clientele but all along right behind her head were a pair of high heels the same height, but again ok! Then she estimated that the See by Chloe shoes had wear on them. They did not!!! I literally wore them once they were practically brand new. I would have accepted it better had she simply said that it was just too high price for her clientele, but it’s Ardmore! She was constantly demeaning with her authenticity claims! I don’t wear fake!and I don’t think I would ever return to this location. I will continue to sell my things online and make my own profit. Lastly her actions, words and body language like others stated were hue related.
I have never been so appalled going to this so-called Used boutique. The women in there have a stuck up fake nice attitude. The nerve if they knew who I work for Lol! I had my nice some designer and some not summer clothes in a bin for about a year. One of the workers said it smells like smoke. I don’t smoke and nobody in my house smokes. I have to go back and pick my summer clothes up. In the meantime I had really nice designer shoes also in shoe boxes covered up for over a year in the basement, when got my summer clothes I told the lady to specifically smell my box of shoes which it was about 13 nice shoes. She smelled them and said they are ok. I got a text the same day I dropped the shoes off to say to pick them up. Inconveniencing me. I did not go right back instead I called the store to see if they bought my shoes. The Manager there said that she basically didn’t have time to look my information up to see the status of my shoes. She was like either way you have to come in. So I went today and the Manager gave me all my shoes back. I was so mad that this unprofessional boutique wasted my time especially after o gold them that I just got out of the hospital with a slipped disc. I will never go there again and I felt their customer service is a zero. Pay attention to the reviews and don’t waste your time, gas and money. There are better boutique stores that are way more professional towards their clients. They will go out of business in that area!
I love going to Clothes Mentor. The people usually take my clothes that I do not want anymore. Also, I have found inexpensive JCrew outfits here.
UPDATE: The same Gucci bag I brought in was purchased from me by a local competitor company for $290 cash. I used to be an authenticator/ pricer for a local competitor company and now I work for one of the largest luxury resale markets in the world, which resells things like Chanel, Hermes, Cartier, etc. I brought some of my items that my company doesn’t accept, like Coach, Free People and Nike…brand new. I brought a Gucci tote that is clean and has wear on the corners, but easily can sell for $300 They rejected that, I’ll just sell it to my company, and a nwt Nike sweatshirt they said was mens…it’s bright pink with a glitter check, but okay. The owner is not personable and questioned me about the authenticity before even looking at the bag, I think they either couldn’t authenticate it or couldn’t afford it…the store has NO luxury brands which is odd for the economy of Ardmore, unless you consider Coach to be luxury. They took a long time to price, unlike the Springfield location. When I went to get my items, they were priced wrong…when questioned the owner realized my profit was almost 50% off of what they owed me. Clothing is bland and outdated. Go to the Springfield location 20 minutes away or Greene Street or just sell online. You would think they would want to build relationships with people who own luxury and want to sell it. Yikes. Trust the reviews you see!
I've shopped at this store before. Can't say that I've always been blown away while browsing. The few times I've gone in there was always the same greeter at the register. Friendly enough, however all times the persons working in the back wore a bit of a scowl: Went over however a few days ago and I used my credit card for 3 small purchases ... I was asked to show my identification. Is this standard at this location now, or was I the only one who was of another hue than the other customers? Ironically I'd also made a purchase at the location in Springfield the day before and no ID check there ... Not one to jump to conclusions. I had a delayed reaction. What was that about? The was no explanation.
Store is bright, organised and color coded. Upscale resale. Lots of name brand fashion designers. Bags, shoes, belts, jewelry, clothing and outerwear.
I have been bringing the NEW overstock items from my boutiques to Clothes Mentor for years and found that there was a new one in Ardmore. Upon arrival I was expecting a pleasant experience like the other locations in SC, DE, and VA. However, the elderly white associate with dark hair at this location was rude to me as soon as I came in the door. I guess wearing a nonprofit's event t-shirt made her think I was not Prada material. I sold my Kohrs, Prada, and Louboutins online instead. I would not recommend interacting with this location as the lady judges you on what you wear going in.
I sell used clothing online as a profession and have for years. Once a month or so I bring older inventory to various consignment stores in and around Philly to turn it into credit to buy new stuff. I've developed awesome relationships with several consignment stores doing this, as they make money on me on both ends. It's a win win for everybody. I saw 3 total customers during the two hours I was in the store. On a Saturday afternoon during the weekend after Thanksgiving. I'm saying all of this to paint a picture that I think explains, but does not excuse, the poor attitudes the women working there have. The manager was friendly when I came in, and she was training an employee on the sale they were running as she was explaining it to me. That employee ended up going through the three bags I brought in to sell. She knew it was my stuff and she knew I was in the store shopping. I was 6 feet away from the register shopping when I hear the employee say "Well that whole bag was terrible". I decided to let her prattle on a little longer to see just how rude she would be while she wasn't aware I was standing right in front of her I was crouched down shopping the lower rack, and she started mocking the way I said that I had Armani when it was clearly out of season. Aside: they were two 15 year old Armani Collezioni blazers hanging on the "designer" rack smack dab between where she was blabbing and I was shopping. The truth is that if it was current I'd sell it myself, and the fact is that the store had bought some of my leftovers before, so I figured they could be my 4th stop this month to go through what was left. I turned around and said "I'm right here". She was clearly unhappy she was caught. But she didn't apologize. Instead she began to explain herself: "I'm just saying how I'm trying to find more current styles." I let her know that I had been listening to her for the last five minutes, that she had been condescending and rude, and that she shouldn't be talking trash about a CUSTOMER'S stuff when they're six feet away. Still no apology. I decided I'd use up my store credit that day as I never want to come back to this store which smells strongly of Bath & Body Works to the point that the stuff I took home with me is overwhelmingly scented with a cloyingly sweet fragrance, so the rude worker processed the transaction. Third opportunity for an apology and there was none. I truly wanted to believe that it must be a difficult job to do over the holidays, that maybe the smack talking with coworkers makes retail hell bearable somehow, but after reading other reviews I can tell this isn't a one time occurrence.
If you have valuable items to sell - do go elsewhere or sell online. This little shop acts as if they’re buying for Bergdorf. Selection of clothing is very drab and basic. Also don’t give your information if asked - they’ll take your info without even buying anything. So on top of not making a sale, you can look forward to getting spammed
The seller gets only about 10% of an item’s retail value! Do the math
