Coal Run Village Fire Department was established in 1978. The fire department began with Fire Chief Pickle Simer, one station, and one 1957 fire engine. Today Coal Run Village Fire Department operates a fleet of fully equipped fire apparatuses including two fully equipped rescue trucks, three top of line engines, and one aerial platform. Coal Run operates out of two fire stations covering an area of approximatley 25 square miles as well as one of the busiest sections of US 23 in the state.
