Description

SINCE 1990, THE COFFEE CONNEXION HAS BEEN “TAHOE CITY’S
ORIGINAL COFFEE HOUSE”.
IN 1996, AFTER SIX YEARS OF BUYING VARIOUS GREEN BEANS FROM SUPPLIERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, JEFF AND ROBIN DECIDED TO BUY THEIR OWN ROASTER. JEFF TRAVELLED TO CORVALLIS, OREGON IN THE FALL OF 1996 AND BOUGHT THEIR FLUID BED ROASTER FROM MIKE SIVETZ OF SIVETZ COFFEE CO. AFTER LEARNING THE FINE ART OF ROASTING FROM GAVINA BROS. IN LOS ANGELES, JEFF BEGAN PURCHASING GREEN BEANS FROM ROYAL COFFEE IN EMERYVILLE, CA. ROASTING IN LAKE FOREST, THE COFFEE CONNEXION ROASTERY WAS BORN. THROUGH LOCAL FRIENDS AND CONNEXIONS, THEY SOON HAD A SOLID FOUNDATION OF WHOLESALE CUSTOMERS, MANY OF WHICH ARE WITH THEM TO THIS DAY. SADLY, JEFF PASSED AWAY IN 2001 BUT ROBIN CONTINUES THE LEGACY WITH THE HELP OF HER TWO CHILDREN, JEN AND JAKE

I still have the taste of burnt dark roast coffee in my mouth. We got the cold brew and cappuccino- both which were the same coffee but different temperature and in different cups. The cappuccino consisted of 80% whipped foam poured on top. The avocado toast was the cheap guacamole from Safeway on a burnt piece of bread. Go to Fullers or Safeway next door and get coffee from the fridge.
Absolutely not. This place doesn’t wear gloves, i watched the employees touch there faces, rubb there noses, brush fingers through hair, grab money and COINS then proceeded to make food with no washing of hands or gloves. I order a crepe waited 30 minutes and it was visibly raw and disgusting. Super bad attitudes the employees had as well. The coffees and drinks are 90% ice and the remaining 10% is mostly milk. We ordered a sugar waffle and watched the girl who took our cash touched the register and counter which was visibly dirty and grabbed it with her bare hands. Overpriced for these disgusting products. A health violation should be filed considering the disgustingness and lack of cleanliness this business allows.
I ordered an iced mocha and an iced mint mocha and both tasted terrible with no flavor just bitter coffee. I also ordered a ham & Swiss croissant and an avocado toast. Both were very messy wrapped in foil paper. The ham & swiss was rubbery and had a very thin slice of ham and almost no cheese. The “avocado toast” was literally two sandwich breads with fake water down avocado. The menú said avocado toast on a sour dough. Very disappointed.
Staff seems lazy and uninterested. Food pastries stale. Charge an extra $1 on already pricey coffee drinks, for to go. No wifi and limited seating at bar but yet charge $1 extra to take coffee with you? Im a local and have really been trying to give this place a chance but think this will be my last visit.
The food and beverages are top notch. I could it being very busy during tourist times of the year. Overall a very good place to grab a coffee and/or a bite to eat.Food: 5/5
Coffee is ok. Cinnamon roll was ok.Food: 4/5
Courteous staff, but need improvement on coffee pouring and flavor.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The coffee was stale and watered down, the baked good was expired and extremely stale The place was filthy and the person that claimed to be the owner, Peter was very rude and when I tired very politely to bring up my concerns with him he was unruly and told me to go back to my own country I politely explained that I am a native American and that this is my country. I wish I hadnt stopped here. Avoid at all costs. Even Starbucks would be abetter option.
Great place. Only coffee shop in town open before 8. Hours are 7-2. Very nice staff. Outdoor seating to eat. Across the parking lot is access to the bike path walk towards the water and sip your drink while headed back to town and beautiful view of the lake.
Nice location to grab coffee before heading to the lake for a walk. Gets busy in morning as expected so plan ahead. Food available.
