Played here about a month ago and the greens were the best things. Today was another story. The greens were absolutely horrible. Hardly any grass, someone had been driving across them, divots the size of basketballs. It’s also easier to drive on the fairway then the cart path.
Very unprofessional and low maintenance golf course. Policies and regulations are beyond unclear and not posted online. I wouldn’t have wasted my time going if I’d known about some of the inconvenient, made-up on the spot, policies. If you just want to hit a ball with a stick, this is the perfect place. If you want to play real golf, go somewhere else.
The design and layout are very good and in the right hands this course has a lot of potential. Unfortunately there are some RIDICULOUS course maintenance issues. About half of the greens have hazards in the middle of thempossibly sinkholes, possibly ruts from heavy equipment. Some of them were bald while others clearly hadn't been mowed in several days. On several of the holes the fairway grass had been left to grow to second cut of rough length. Our group had 2 carts. Cart #1 had a defective brake so we had to find a flat place to stop every time to keep it from rolling away. The other cart wouldn't start roughly 1 time out of 4 unless someone pushed while the other held the gas down. The cart paths on most holes were just a patchwork of hunks of concrete held together by an endless stream of deep potholes. It's a fairly inexpensive course and the pace of play was good, but I won't be returning unless some serious improvements are made.
Update: I received an email from Scott about the 5th hold flooding. It was apparently an irrigation valve leak. It was addressed and the flow of water to the green has now stopped. Thanks to Scott for responding to me so quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Played the course yesterday for the first time. I have to say I was satisfied with the layout of the course. I only played the first 9 holes, but although it is not long, there are a few dog legs and hills that make the course challenging. In addition, creeks appear at the most inopportune times, making you have to decide whether to risk trying to go over the water or lay up. Laying up makes you fail to reach the green in regulation and have to scramble to save par. So I found it to be challenging and causes you to really think about course management. As far as maintenance, I know there are some complaints among the other reviews. I feel like yes, there are concerns about greens not being up to par. But honestly, compared to another municipal course I go to, I found them to be adequate. A couple of them have dead grass on a couple of them that should be addressed. The other thing I notice is that the rough, is well, rough. What I mean is that the rough outside the fairways is pretty long, and your ball kind of gets lost in it. I am not sure if that is intended but it would be nice to have that maintained a little better. With that said, the other course I go to has rough that is barely maintained at all. I found that hitting into the rough here is at least playable even if difficult. On the 5th hole, the green was flooded and unplayable. It has been raining a lot lately, but there is definitely a drainage issue. I mentioned it to an employee and I expect that to be addressed. The driving range, while usable, needs some work. The mats are old, and you are not allowed to hit woods or driver. I just needed to warm up, and not being able to hit a few with my driver is not good. I am not sure why this rule is in place but adding some rubber tees should be doable. I found the staff here to be courteous and helpful. I will be back.
Course is in terrible shape despite having great potential. Majority of the greens have more potholes than I-285 and the cart paths are guaranteed to give you whiplash. Charging $50 for 18 holes is near criminal. Hopefully the club will address this because at the current shape the course is in they should be charging $25 at the most. 100% recommend playing elsewhere until this issue is addressed.
This place needs to be shutdown and start over. At best the value here is $15 for 18 holes. Dead and moldy grass on the greens making them unplayable, uncut fairways and greens, cart paths are destroyed… only plus is pace of play is decent. This could be a good track if there is some serious investment put in.
Played this course today. And something bad happened to the greens. Played 2 months ago and they were good for the time of year. Today when they should be coming in nicely they are rolled mud or weeds. Had multiple putts all but stop an inch from the hole and then roll back down to my feet. I don't mind fast greens, but these are not that. Fairways are bad. But not as critical. Carts paths have always been bad, they say they are trying to repair them, but they are not. They have been this way for years. Again absolutely zero effort given to the cart paths. It's the cheapest course around and that's the best thing about it. But it was unplayable today.
On top of all of the complaints in the other reviews about the condition of the course, they have now added a new thing to drive off players. We are on the course at 8:00, several holes away from the clubhouse and they remote disabled all of the carts. Everyone playing had to take their bags off and walk back. Needless to say, there are a lot of folks that will never return even if it is the only place with a tee time left.
The staff is kind and attentive, but I’ve honestly played at nicer municipal courses for $22… $40-55 a round for greens that look like a topographical map, a cart path that is hardly a path most of the course, and tee boxes where your ball will be 2-3 inches above/below your feet. The carts are in rough shape, I would assume it’s from the wear and tear of driving on their cart paths. The driving range has very few bays and you can’t hit driver on the driving range. They have a monopoly on golf in Lawrenceville so I’m sure we will see little effort for improvement.
Played 4/28/23 Course isn’t maintained. The Greens are some of the worst I’ve seen. Cart path is so run down we had to get out and push our golf cart at one point because it wouldn’t make it up the hill through the rocks. I felt like I was rock crawling. Spend a few more dollars and play at a course that’s cared for
