The City of Torrance is striving to maximize the use of the sports turf and improve the pathway system at Columbia Park
Columbia Park is the largest park in Torrance at 52 acres and is located at 4045 190th Street. It was officially named in 1938 after the Columbia Broadcasting Company, due to the KNX radio tower on the property. The City of Torrance acquired the property in parcels between 1966 starting with 17 acres and acquiring the remaining 35 acres by 1978.
The purpose of this project is to maximize the use of the sports turf and improve the walking paths in the western portion of the park. The city has hired a design consultant to lead the staff and community residents through the design process that will achieve the project goals.
A series of two Community Workshops have been scheduled followed by a presentation of the final plan to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
