One of 38 High School Fire Academy Programs in NC where students receive Firefighter I,II and EMT Certification without attending Community College.
The Concord HS Fire Academy Program is in the 5th year of operation. We were one of the original Pilot Programs. We have grown from ~20 recruits to more than 190 since January of 2010. Recruits receive High School Career and Technical Education credit as well as Firefighter I,II Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal as a Direct Delivery Agency. We are also offering EMT certification through NCOEMS. The program is also run much like a JROTC program with an Honor Guard, Skills USA Firefighter competition Team, and more...
To instill a sense of Honor, Service, Pride, and Tradition in all of our recruits as well as demonstrating our Motto - "Committed To Excellence" to all that meet members of our program.
Currently we are working toward building a Fire Academy classroom building, Firehouse, and Training Tower. In addition, the program would like to be able to respond to emergencies like the Joplin Tornado, Katrina, and other natural disasters as a First Strike Search and Rescue Team within the next 5 years. This would include the Alumni, and members of our Partner Agency Concord Fire and Life Safety.
