Solid place to catch a movie. Pretty standard to aNy movie theatre in a mall. Nice workers, good location in mall next to an ice rink which is kind of cool.
This theater hasn't been renovated in years. The last time I was here it felt the exact same. It is very compact and has its bare minimum concessions that is a bit slow in keeping up during the busier hours. I was so use to having the lounge seating that I didn't know this theater still has the classic seats that can be overly crowded. Movies walls were thin so you could hear the rumbles from the speakers on the other side at times too. For a theater it's alright but definitely lacks some of the amenities that many other have in a more modern theater.
My friend was waiting for us to get out of the movie so we could leave and didn’t say anything rude or negative towards any of the workers. He just asked if he could wait for us there in the lobby. The manager came out and yelled at him saying he was disrespectful and cussed him out. She called him a “fu**er” and threatened to call the cops for just standing and waiting for us which one of the workers said he could do. Terrible experience, if you like being yelled at and terrible service, come to this theater! Never going here again. When I go to a theater I like enjoying a good movie, not watching my kindest friend get cussed out and threatened!
Manager was rude for no reason, I wouldn’t suggest anyone talk to the man for how he treated me and my friends. Edit - His response on this review makes no sense. Not sure what it’s supposed to mean, wrong review maybe?
Theater is clean, staff is ok. General manager is rude. If customer service isn't your thing, you should not be in that field of work.
All the theaters have felt as though they had been cleaned and been cleaned and the food is not bad. They always have they always have the latest movies that are showing and better showing and with discounts that come on every Tuesday plus student ID discounts it is a 100% worth a visit. The only thing that I wish they had was better reclining seats that you see in Cedar Rapids.
I know that usually theaters are too cold but the theater I was in was way too warm. Otherwise, I love this place!
There needs to be a serious improvement to the sound system at this location. The current setup seriously impacts the enjoyment of any movies. The bass is tuned very low, Top Gun suffered during a great many scenes for it. Dialogue lacks clarity, and the overall levels sound like they’re turned down to avoid waking up the neighbors. Film Scene has a wonderful sound system that immerses you in the world of the movie. Otherwise, you’re better off enjoying movies on streaming.
Please, please, please clean this place! Everything is dirty. The bathrooms have terrible plumbing and every stall is dirty. The soda fountains are disgusting. I only get drinks from a bottle/can. The theater needs to get completely renovated. This is not a one time experience. I go regularly for the hubby because he enjoys the movies. Always have the same experience - gross!
This is my go to theater for the Iowa City/Coralville area. It's starting to show a few signs of age but other than that it is hard to find areas to complain about.
