I have been using Cornerstone Vet for my dog’s medical needs since moving to Kyle a year ago. Every experience has been a good one, from reception to the Vet Assistants, and especially with Dr. Burke. This past Monday I took my dog, Jasper, to see Dr. Burke for some behavior changes. Jasper is 13 years old so I expect some differences in his behavior, but I was worried he might be in pain or have some other physical reason for the changes in his behavior. Dr. Burke did one of the most thorough exams of my dog that I have ever seen. On palpating his abdomen, Jasper tensed, in obvious discomfort. He was given fluids and medication for comfort and lab work was done that was run, while I was there. There were abnormal results. I took Jasper home with instructions to call in the morning. He did not seem much better so we were told to come in and he was hospitalized all day with IV fluids and antibiotics. I took him home that night and he was much better, finally wanting to eat again. We went back for a recheck the next day and he was kept for another half day of fluids and medication. Jasper is doing much better and throughout this whole process I was kept informed by phone of his condition by the staff and by Dr. Burke. I really feel like everyone at Cornerstone Vet cares about Jasper’s wellbeing.
I don’t have the words to truly explain how horrible cornerstone is, but here goes nothing. My cousin brought her obviously dying dog in as an emergency situation, after calling ahead to notify cornerstone of how sick she was. They said they would help her and to bring her in. Cornerstone then proceeded to make them wait 20 minutes before someone finally walked in the room, looked at her, and determined she was stable and walked out. Without ever touching or examining her. After more valuable time that could have been used to save her passes they finally do X-rays and blood work, put her on fluids, and tell them to come back later to pick her up. While also notifying them of their $700 bill for this horrible care. And when they return a few hours later to pick up their “stable” dog that was so healthy that Cornerstone felt comfortable neglecting it of the care it needed for HOURS, they are told she has passed away. And that their bill is now $900. Needless to say. I definitely do not recommend cornerstone… unless you’re looking for a vets office that will neglect your dog, and then up charge your bill when it passes from their truly awful care. If so then this is the place for you.
We love Cornerstone! We are grateful to have found a vet office that takes such excellent care of our dogs. We love Olivia and how kind she is to Dempsey every time we have to come in. I’m eternally grateful to Dr. Newth for diagnosing Dempsey and ultimately saving his life. Dr. Burke is so kind and thoughtful with explaining things to us and following up. Scout and Dempsey are lucky to have such an a wonderful team caring for them :
I will never take my pets to another vet ever again!! Cornerstone was so welcoming and compassionate to our family when we had to take out 15 year old German shepherd for a quality of life check because she took a turn for the worse. We ended up having to put her down due to her rapidly declining health. We opted to get her ashes returned so she would always be with us. After we picked her up, we received a letter in the mail from Cornerstone with a very sweet card and imprints of our girls snout and paws. I couldn’t hold it together, I balled my eyes out. The little extras the give the customers to let us know they care are incredible.
Cornerstone killed my grandpup. Friday Aug 18th. at 2:30 pm. Our sweet JoJo was a happy healthy pup 1 minute then she collapsed in what appeared to be epileptic shock. My daughter called CORNERSTONE to make sure they could see her immediately Vs. Needing to go to the nearest ER. They told her they’d be ready to see her when they arrived. They arrived, and were put in a room. I joined them there and we waited an hour!! I opened the door to the back after 30 minutes or so just to REMIND them we had a DIEING dog in there!! They sent what I think was maybe an intern or new vet tech and decided she was “stable” enough for Dr. to see the “scheduled” appointments first. REALLY!??! Because she was still BREATHING!?? All her extremities were COLD, slow heart rate, couldn’t hold her head up…..she was clearly DIEING however, when a vet person apparently qualified to make such a decision says she’s “stable” it’s common to have faith in what they say!! Well, NO MORE!! The Dr. came in finally for a quick assessment and clearly was in NO RUSH. They FINALLY came and took her back for X-rays & lab work. All was normal so that’s when they decided to treat her for a reaction to a bite of some kind that poisoned her system. We were told they’d give her a bolus injection and fluids and for us to come back in an hour. 1 hour later we were sitting in a room ready to see her and the nurse NOT DR!!, came in and said “I’ve got some bad news……JoJo just died”. We were in SHOCK. I have no question that their lack of urgency KILLED JoJo!! I used to be a customer myself of Cornerstone LOVED Dr. Burke! but not anymore!!! I drove up there a week later asking to see the manager. There was no manager there at the moment. HUMMMMM…..I find that ODD. I requested a call back that never happened. RIP sweet JoJo. I’m sorry you were let down. Your life mattered!! Xoxo
The Cornerstone staff are always so welcoming and helpful. Dr. Burke is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and loving towards our dogs. They’re the best around!
I was able to get my pet into see a vet for a semi emergent appt. We are new to the area and needed help. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My pup and I will refer Cornerstone to anyone looking for a good place to bring their fur babies to!
The team has always been professional and calm. They have also gone above and beyond my expectations when bringing my kids with me to my pet’s appointment. I also like that the staff has not changed since I have been coming. That says a lot about the doctors, staff, and management.
Cornerstone Animal Hospital is wonderful in every way. The facilities are beautiful and spotless. The office personnel are friendly and professional. I love the veteranarians. Their love of animals is obvious. They are gentle, loving, and caring with my dog.
The quality of care at Cornerstone has always been great, but the attitude of our veterinarian, Andi, this last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. To be fair, I own a rather rambunctious Great Dane, and she can be a handful to control, but is otherwise harmless. For their comfort, they decided to utilize a muzzle while examining her, something she is not accustomed to wearing. I have no problem with this as long as I am present to keep her as calm as possible, as I know she does not appreciate the restraint. However, this last visit they proceeded to take my dog to the back portion of the office for examination. Upon return, the veterinarian proceeded to admonish my wife and I because she felt that my dog’s behavior prevented her from doing her job. To me, if your job is to work with animals, albeit a dog, there should be some implied risk that they may not respond the way you would like, and the staff should be prepared for that. Else, you may consider asking the owner to accompany you so they can just do the job themselves.
