I was able to get my pet into see a vet for a semi emergent appt. We are new to the area and needed help. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My pup and I will refer Cornerstone to anyone looking for a good place to bring their fur babies to!
We love Cornerstone! We are grateful to have found a vet office that takes such excellent care of our dogs. We love Olivia and how kind she is to Dempsey every time we have to come in. I’m eternally grateful to Dr. Newth for diagnosing Dempsey and ultimately saving his life. Dr. Burke is so kind and thoughtful with explaining things to us and following up. Scout and Dempsey are lucky to have such an a wonderful team caring for them :
Cornerstone Animal Hospital is wonderful in every way. The facilities are beautiful and spotless. The office personnel are friendly and professional. I love the veteranarians. Their love of animals is obvious. They are gentle, loving, and caring with my dog.
Highly recommend Cornerstone!! Dr East is the best! We have fur babies with multiple health issues. Dr East and everyone at Cornerstone is so knowledgeable and caring.
I would like to start by saying that for all of our south Austin/Buda/Kyle friends, I would absolutely NOT ever recommend Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Buda. JoJo was fine on Friday morning. Following us around the house per usual, nothing out of the ordinary. Alex crated the dogs before he left the house around 1:30pm. I got home at 1:45pm just 15 minutes after Alex put them in their crate and went to let the dogs out of their crate. I found JoJo laying there at the front looking lifeless with vomit and poop surrounding her. JoJo does NOT have these kind of accidents in the house. I called Alex and told him to turn around and come back home to help me clean out their crate and bathe the dogs. When he got home, he took Jo and the crate outside to clean them off and JoJo wouldn’t even stand up. She wouldn’t move. She wouldn’t even turn her head when we called her name. She was breathing funny, turning pale, had a lump in her stomach, and looked like she was having a stroke. I called cornerstone and asked if they take emergency cases since we live 5 minutes down the road and they have seen our dogs before. The receptionist asked what was going on, I told her the above, she placed me on hold to go talk to the vet, and then she came back and told me they would take Jo if we could get there right now. She also told me at this time to expect to pay between $500-$700. I said we would be there in 5 minutes and she said they would be ready for us. We arrive at 2:25pm, and they immediately place us in a room. Someone finally comes in the room at 2:40 and asks us what’s going on. We explain everything. This person was maybe in the room for 2 minutes, did not physically touch JoJo or feel/examine her in any way, and then proceeded to tell us that she is “stable” as he walks out. My dog is literally going cold and has a pure white tongue but sure, she’s stable. I guess she would have had to already stop breathing for him to consider her unstable? Ridiculous! Another 20 minutes go by and nothing. No one else has come to check on her, take her back, examine her, run tests, nothing. They said since she was “stable” that they were going to continue seeing their regularly scheduled patients and they would be with us when they could. If the receptionist would have told me this over the phone then I would have never wasted my time with this awful place. I would have driven a little further to be seen immediately, which is what I was told was going to happen here. Well they finally take her back and do blood work and x rays, both of which they said came back normal, but that she had low blood pressure and they were going to work on getting that up with epinephrine/IV fluids. At this point it’s about 4pm, we wait another 30 minutes and they come tell us they’re going to leave her on the fluids and to come back in an hour at 5:30 they close at 6 so we can check on her progress and come up with a plan for the night. At this point I’m also handed a bill for $697 and I’m told that’s what we will owe for their services. We ask if we pay this now or later, they said later when we come pick her up. Okay. We come back at 5:30, are placed in a different room. Again, we sit here for about 10-15 minutes before anyone comes in. Then, the dr comes in and says, I have some very bad news. JoJo passed away about 60 seconds ago. So my so called “stable” dog just died in their hands after we were pushed off by over an hour after arriving there, when they told me over the phone that they would take us right away. We told them she wasn’t stable. We told them none of this was normal for her. We told them her paws were going cold and her tongue was pale white. They bring us her still warm body and let us say our final goodbyes to the happiest dog that ever lived. Oh, and then I got a new bill of now ~$900! My mom owns a pet rescue organization and is a well known realtor in the area, and I can promise you, everyone she’s linked to will know about our horrible experience. Everyone we reach via social media will also know about our experience.
The staff was terrific with us & with our cat. Dr East is fantastic! She’s good with our cat & makes sure that all of our questions are answered.
Cornerstone has been our vet for 16 years! It feels like our pet is their favorite every time we go. The perfect combination of caring and professional!
We have a puppy. As expected with puppies, she has some issues that require vet care. I was recommended this vet from my groomer at Petco. The office is extremely clean and welcoming. Every person on the staff has always been extremely nice. There have been times where I needed help with my dog and they go the extra mile to squeeze her in between appointments, see her right before they close, and very last minute. They are always accommodating and make time for her. They take extensive notes and get to know the client and they remember every little thing. We had been in and out quite a few times since getting her! We also have a 2 year old adult who doesn’t need as much help, and they take great care of him too. Today we went in for a gastrointestinal issue for my puppy and they gave her meds in a beautiful decorated custom bag. They are so nice and explain what’s going on to me at a level that I can understand and process. They love my dogs! They treat both of them like family. The exam rooms have comfy chairs. You can see the cute bag they made my Doberman, and a picture of my Pit/Lab relaxing in the exam room!
I had been going here for months with my first dog and had no complaints . A second dog recently joined our family who is a little nervous going to the vet and I took our second dog for their first and will be the last visit to Cornerstone. Although the tech and office staff were very polite, the vet was incredibly rude and unprofessional. My second dog was showing obvious signs of anxiety -- barking, panting heavily, wanting to move away from the vet, tail between the legs, hair on the back slightly raised. I restrained my dog with the leash, and upon the suggestion of the tech, I muzzled my dog just to be safe. During the examination, my second dog held his head in my hands while the vet and tech proceeded with the examination and administered the vaccines. In response to this, the vet demanded after the examination that I remove my dog from the office. I put my dog in the car and came back into the practice to check out. When I returned, the vet personally berated me for my dog's behavior, told me I was not skilled enough as an owner to handle my dog, and suggested that I rehome my dog. I was shocked by this response because it seemed so disproportionate to the situation and out of turn for my prior experiences at this hospital. I just said okay and checked out and paid the bill because I was so upset that I did not even know what to say. The next day I reached out to the office to discuss the poor experience I had at the vet the day before, and to give the vet an opportunity to either apologize or otherwise address their inappropriate behavior because up until that day I had good experiences with this vet's office and was legitimately perplexed as to why I was treated so disrespectfully and with hostility. The vet's office never responded. I am posting here because I do not want someone to experience the same mistreatment I faced, and because of this terrible experience I will not be returning to this practice because I cannot trust that my pets will be treated with compassion, competency, or professionalism. Not to mention, I have never felt so personally disrespected by a business in my life. Particularly if you have a dog who is nervous going to the vet -- I would NOT recommend going here.
Everyone who we spoke with was so kind and knowledgeable and helped to make our first visit an amazing experience. The doctor and nurse went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and to easy any concerns we may have had about our puppy not feeling so well.
