My husband Andi was admitted to Cortlandt Healthcare several times. We always had a great experience and and he returned home healthier and stronger due to the excellent physical therapy he received. However, this past time, due to a stroke he needed extensive care. I know he was not an easy person to care for, but every time I visited, I was impressed by the dedication and attention he received from the staff. I am so grateful to all the Aides and Nurses at Cortlandt Healthcare for giving him such a compassionate and loving care. I can not thank them enough for all the help during this very difficult time. Everybody was nice and helpful, especially Vicky, Debbie and Shermone who were there all the times and ensure he was always comfortable and pain free. Thank you all!!
They were very careful about checking for covid before entry. They offered to put labels on the clothes I brought for the patient They gave me directions as to how to find her. While I was there I got to see her social worker. She was in a private room with her own bath and TV. It was very clean. She said she was getting PT today. I thought it was a great place.
I am deeply dissatisfied with the weekend staff at Cortlandt Healthcare. There is a skeleton crew but the same amount of residents as in the weekdays! My mother needs a hoyer lift into/out of bed but it consistently takes a minimum of 1 hour to get help. One reason is that there is no staff on the floor and a second reason is that they disappear again after you asked for help. Today, we waited 1.5 hours and when she got placed in bed her diaper was not changed. Her meal trays always have cheese and other dairy but she is lactose intolerant. I heard weekdays aren't so bad. If your loved one is there, make sure you visit on the weekends. They need someone to care for them.
My relative was here for about a week. The building is updated and clean, the lobby and therapy rooms seem good, the staff are friendly and helpful when you speak with them. The food is poor and the menus strange. Be prepared to get lots of takeout. Dinner one night was doughy ravioli with additional pasta salad, cucumber salad, cornbread. There are room call bells ringing loudly with flashing lights that are near-constant and staff are slow to respond. One night there was an alarm for two hours while I visited. It’s a shame.
My mom went here after her hip replacement. She was treated with such care from pt Mercedes and Liza nursing staff head nurse Tonisha the aides favorite was April and even the behind the scenes staff including Renata and the building lead administrator Faith. Sure there were hiccups like everywhere however individuals stepped up like Dom who went out of their way to check in on mom and bring her a daily dose of sunshine. I was able to visit at my convenience and even order in her favorite meals. We were welcomed with open arms and never once did my young children feel awkward when visiting. Mom began her recovery from hip surgery at Cortlandt and they still genuinely care and check in on her now that she is at home. Definitely make this an option when seeking rehab care.
I’m happy with Cortlandt and the staff. They are all very caring and hard working. My mom seems happy and well cared for. Like all health care facilities, there are staff shortages, and I would like to see more activities which I knpw was hampered by covid

My father was a resident here at Cortlandt until passing in August and I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge several special people who cared for my father during his final days. Jackie and Julianne were absolutely incredible. They took the time to keep me informed and I could feel their compassion, whether it was face-to-face or on the phone. Thank you to Tammy, Director of Rehab, Mercedes, Liza, Nicole, Lisa and Michael, for working with him and keeping him comfortable. Thank you to Dr. Stadlen for keeping me informed of the difficult process in order to keep my father pain-free and comfortable. All of you treated him as you would your own father and I appreciate that so much. The nursing and rehab staff always went above and beyond and I will forever be grateful for their understanding and dedication to caring for everyone’s loved one. Thank you to Jessica for trying to keep up with his jigsaw puzzle obsession and for making sure he had relaxing music playing in his room. I’m sure there are so many others I’m forgetting but please know it did not go unnoticed. My father went peacefully and without pain and my family and I can’t thank you enough.
After a seething reply from my daughter and I, I must say as of yesterday Monday services have turned around for the better. I met with Jeanne, Taffy and Lee Strange. Our meeting was extremely positive. I felt a sigh of relief. After I explained my meeting with them to my husband John, daughter and son they were also pleased to know everything should work out. I do understand the shortness of help but we all agree the lack of attention is unacceptable. With that said John will remain at Cortlandt Healthcare Thank you, Mary Broderick and children
The receptionist was friendly and professional. She gave COVID-19 test instructions clearly and was hands-on to complete check-in. She really was "awesome."
