We offer individual counseling, relationship & couples counseling, family counseling, and counseling for teens and children and parents. We specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and loss. We have 10 diverse therapists to select from. Amy Brow, Alyssa, Diane, Sam, and Laura are a Gottman Level 2 trained therapists and specialize in couples.Haylie, Erica, Mary, and Linley get great results with children and adolescents.Alyssa, Laura and Amy are trained in EMDR which treats trauma. Melissa Martinez and Mary Bennett specialize in substance abuse and eating disorders. Faith based Melissa & Katherine.Penny is a board approved supervisor for Associates."

I reached out to Counseling by Penny Haight after finding their counseling practice through an Internet search. Response to my email inquiry was prompt and encouraging. They offer an online client portal that is convenient and easy to navigate. I met with my selected counselor in early October. The office location is convenient. The environment is inviting, calming and they respect confidentiality. I am very pleased with my inaugural visit and look forward to continuing with this practice and counselor.
It’s hard to find a good counselor you gel with, let alone that is in network for insurance. From the moment I spoke with the office manager Dixie I knew this counseling group was genuinely caring. They’ve been easy to work with, taken care of the insurance stuff, and even send lots of appointment reminders which I appreciate. My counselor Erica is top notch both in terms of personality and professional competence. Like any good therapist she’s an empathetic listener, but she also is proactive in getting to the important things and working with me for change. I have friends and a pastor, I don’t just need a listening ear. I need a professional who’s versed a variety of therapy techniques. She’s the perfect mix. Very glad I found Counseling by Penny!
I want to start out by saying the counselors are great. But the office needs to get themselves together. This is no less than the fourth time they have taken/tried to take money out of my bank after we've left. We are no longer seeing them and haven't in months and months. They keep saying they've deleted the card on file then low and behold another surprise charge. These surprise charges range from $100-250 dollars!!! Very disappointed and I will be letting my bank know that anything from them is fraudulent because the office doesn't seem to know how to make it stop
I would absolutely refer anyone to this practice! Everyone is nice and so professional. Haylie is a fantastic counselor. She is a competent, kind, and caring therapist, and she has a great work ethic! You can't go wrong with Counseling by Penny.
Nice staff but a terrible 'no show' policy. If you're over 15 minutes late they will charge you $150 and NOT give you the remaining session you're trying to attend for the timeframe you were scheduled to have. Nice staff but terrible policy.
The office is very lovely and everyone is super kind! I am looking forward to continuing my sessions with the amazing Haylie
Not happy with this place at all. The administrative side is not very efficient. I had two future appointments scheduled. I received a reminder call from the receptionist two weeks ago, I advised her at that time to cancel that appointment and any future appointments. Done deal right? I received a reminder text yesterday, that I replied cancelled. Sometimes I get a response, sometimes I don't. Phone and email system not so great either. I received a phone call this morning from a receptionist reminding me of my appointment. I explained that I requested all appointments be cancelled and that I received a text that I replied to. She advised me she will cancel this appointment as well. Next thing you know...I received an email from my bank that my card was charged by Couselingbypenny. They charged me a cancellation fee. I called the office, spoke with the manager, and she tried to explain in many ways why the charge is valid. I let her know, that I should not be responsible for the cancellation fee because the office staff did not follow the policy, work flow, etc, when I requested to cancel ALL FUTURE APPOINTMENTS. But rather than continue to dispute, I just said, take my money, it's free, you can have it and she was perfectly fine with that. I did let her know I would be making a complaint.
The office manager then went on to try and explain and continued discussing my situation IN FRONT OF THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE very tiny FRONT OFFICE space. I WAS EMBARRASSED THAT OTHERS SAW ME VISIBLY HURT AFTER OUR COMMUNICATION. The lady walked away saying she was going to see what she could do about removing my cc from file. There was this very kind, long dark hair lady that worked there name unknown and walked up to me asking if I had been helped. I told her that the lady was trying to remove my cc on file. She then offered me something to drink. I told her how thankful I was to be treated with kindness from the beginning of her interaction with me and that was so appreciated. It brought me to tears because of how kind and empathetic she was to hear what had occurred with me. I’m sad to not get to experience what seems like great counselors there that may have been able to really help me. My experience may not be their norm, they may have had an off moment … ‍ things happen we are human. However, customer service should be your first order of business and making sure that ALL people are treated with kindness that was extended to others that came in after me. It was hurtful, embarrassing and a humiliating experience to say the least. I asked the manager if there was a complaint process or form I could fill out. She said, “Yes, you can go to Google and fill out a review.” Unbelievable. I go to get help only to leave with further damages. I’m at a loss for words…
Me gusta mucho a Melissa Martínez porque es una persona maravillosa y buena a dar consejos buenos a los jentes para pueden estar bien de sus salud. Ella me a ayudado mucho tiempo para cuidar mucho mi salud. I also love mrs Dixie because she makes my day wonderful to come here before I see Mrs Melissa Martínez after my session starts. I also love all the staffs here like the lady’s that works at the front desk and the lady that pays my session bills every day she makes my day coming in seeing me making me laugh every weeks. It’s been 2 years I have been coming to therapy by Counsling by Penny it’s the best place to come to therapy and speaking to a therapist about your past life, present, divorced, addictions problems, etc.
I was referred to a counselor here by my primary. The consult and visit went very well. Hate the clinic was not covered in my plan. The reason I am taking 2 stars is because of the phone receptionist/admin. I called later in an attempt to get a receipt. As I spoke, she was rushed and didn't ask any clarifying questions of what was needed or dollar amount. When I tried explaining she rushed past me talking so I figured she would send. This first conversation was in the morning. Around almost 5p...I still had not received. I called her back and she said she would try to get to me before she left. I never raised my tone and tried to explain that I needed it asap to remove a freeze on my account. Her snappish response was "Well..you didn't tell me that this morning". Again the counselor was amazing but being in this field I would have expected a different response from someone whose the gatekeeper or welcome committee to those trying to get services. Was a little taken back by the interaction. Part 2: Adjusted/edited the rating. Receptionist called me back and and was pleasant this time around. Explained the reason for the delay and told me she would get to it asap/by end of day. I appreciate the call back and her tone this time around. Understand we all have hectic days. Thanks! Part 3: A full day later and still have not received receipt nor call back regarding status. I did receive a generic response to my review regarding being short staffed. Disappointed. I really thought this was going to be resolved. Debated giving 3 stars but feel 2 star is warranted.
