Mission Statement
The Mission of the County Museum is to exhibit and interpret the heritage of the County in a current, accurate, and engaging manner; to be a valuable historical resource to the community through its well-organized research facility, historical exhibits, and educational programs; to collect, document, and preserve artifacts and records significant to the history of El Dorado; County using the highest standards of scholarship and professional museum and archival practices; to provide a rewarding experience for volunteers and enhance the museum's significance to the community.

The museum is open Wed-Sat from 10am-4pm, Sun from 12pm-4pm and Tuesdays are open research days. We are closed all Mondays, New Years, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The County Museum is continuing to offer Mining History Research Day one Saturday per month through October. Please see (and post!) the attached flyer. The dates are as follows: July 27, August 31, September 28 and October 19. It is held at the County Museum, 10 AM - 4 PM, and we are asking for a donation of $2.00 per person. Additional historical maps, photos and other historical information about hundreds of mines are available that day. However, please feel free to direct patrons with mining history questions to us during the week.
