First time at a Cracker Barrel and I was honestly not that impressed with the food, found the chicken fried steak to be little to salty/peppery.. there wasn’t nothing special about the dumplings nor the Mac and cheese. The only thing that was really good was biscuits with the apple butter those were addictive and the peach tea. The ambiance is very much southern style country. The shop is nice and holds many gems.
Put off coming here because of a bad experience at the cracker barrel in Santa Maria. So, we finally went to the Camarillo restaurant yesterday and it was great. Fresh and tasty food, prepared just right. Fast, friendly and professional service and a fun atmosphere. The shop has plenty of interesting products to keep you amused after your meal too. We will definitely go back again. We had breaded pork chops and fried chicken breasts. Excellent meal. Kid-friendliness: Kids items on the menu, but the food is big enough to share with your kids and still be satisfied. Parking: On the outskirts of the Camarillo outlet mall. Plenty of parking. My family and I enjoy come here for breakfast at any time of the day We highly recommend the cheesecake pancakes Anything with chicken is also delicious I feel this place taste better than Ihop, but unfortunately, on this occasion, they forgot about our blueberry pancakes. We had all finished our meals, and then they brought out my wife’s blueberry pancakes. It was upsetting because we come here to eat together not one at a time, but the food tasted great , coffee is very good. I would come back again.
I have been wanting to go to a Cracker Barrel for quite sometime - the one time we tried, the wait to be seated was an hour and a half, so we just went somewhere else. We finally made it, and we came at a good time because we were seated right away - which was almost a little disappointing since I wanted to check out the little shop at the entrance of the restaurant. But it was ok, we were starving and I was able to check out shop after we ate. The waitress was very nice and got our drinks right away. I had their Arnold Palmer they had another name for it, but I can't remember the name - it was good and not too sweet. She also brought us a basket of biscuits and corn muffins. We tried the corn muffin first and it was so dense and dry. I suggest you just ask for a basket of biscuits because they were tasty. Skip the corn muffin - didn't seem like even a ton of butter could help this dry little muffin. I had originally thought I was going to order breakfast for dinner - they serve breakfast all day - but then I spotted the hamburger steak, which is one of my favorite dishes, so my hubby ordered a breakfast and we shared our meals, so we could try different things. Let me start out with the hamburger steak - I got the fries and Cole slaw as the sides. The sides were good, but the hamburger steak was awful. I had ordered it to be prepared medium, and it was pretty much well done and dry - and it really didn't taste like much. I had also gotten it smothered, but that didn't help with the dryness. I wouldn't recommend this dish at all! My husband got the eggs, fried chicken and grits. He said that the best part of his meal was the eggs. The chicken was so dry! Unfortunately this visit was a big disappointment! Today I checked the Yelp rating for this location and saw they have 3 stars. That's just a meh rating, and I can see why. I think the best experience was shopping in their little Country Store. I hate to say it, but I don't recommend Cracker Barrel.
The food was not good at all. We had chicken dumplings, roast beef and a salad. The chicken with chicken and dumplings were sitting in a pool of water surrounded with dumplings. The chicken was very watery and didn't taste good. The green beans and carrots tasted like they sat in a pot of water for 2+ hours. The roast beef was ok. The mashed potatoes tasted exactly like the ones from KFC. The corn bread was gross and the biscuits tasted like the ones you get at Vons. I was expecting amazing flavors and texture, like in the east coast. Our server must have had an off night. She didn't go over the specials. When she gave us the check she walked off and we sat there waiting to pay. She didn't direct me to pay in the gift shop.I didn't know that was the system We waited for our food for 40 minutes but they weren't busy at all. I won't be back. What a bummer.
The Cracker Barrel is a road traveler's go-to restaurant when traveling the highways and byways of America. One part restaurant, one part old country store. The food is Southern style. Expect fried foods, okra, biscuits and Gravy, Coca-Cola chocolate cake, all the foods that embody Southern comfort. I particularly enjoy the breakfast that is offered there. Slabs of bacon, sausage patties, and country ham. Thick, buttery pancakes. The food is definitely worth the price Of admission, but be sure to bring an appetite or make sure to get some physical activity in before or after the meal, you'll need to burn off all that delicious food. Always a pleasing meal, although the allure of it in California isn't as quality as eating at a Cracker Barrel in any other state.
First time here. Amazing staff, great atmosphere and most of all the food is fantastic! Every bite comforts the soul. Loaded baked sweet potato is a must have. Grilled or crispy chicken is tender and juicy. If you’re a bacon lover, this is your restaurant. Fried apples and coleslaw are good choices for sides. Once you try this place, you’ll be back for sure.
Excellent overall experience. The food was meh but sure tasted great after a long day of traveling. The wait staff was so pleasant and I enjoyed the buttermilk biscuits and real butter. Thanks for a heart and belly-warming time Cracker Barrel . Cute decorationsFood: 4/5
From the ladder backed rockers on the wraparound porch, to the gift shop, to the table, this is the best from days gone by. Wanda happily served us our breakfast, refilled coffee, water, replenished butter, cream, sugar and whatever we wanted. The country fried steak and gravy were as good as I make and that's dang good! Our eggs were made just how each of us like them and the biscuits were the real deal! Fluffy inside with a crispy crust, and hot with real creamery butter, and plenty of it. Cracker Barrel is a southern to midwest chain that's got it down pat. I've been to other locations and always the same great food, service and homestyle atmosphere. Take some time to look through the gift shop with clever, unique and well made gifts for yourself or the perfect thoughtful gift for someone else. I think there's something for everyone. We will always be back! Kid-friendliness: My 9 year old granddaughter lived the food and Wanda, our server, was so sweet and attentive to her. She also loved the antique decor and had fun seeing the unique gifts in the gift shop. And playing with some toy and games on display. Including three game at our table. Great place to bring the kids. She already wants to go back.
Gift shop was great as usual. We were traveling so I got a grilled chicken salad to go. It was delicious and very filling! I've never been disappointed at Cracker Barrel.Food: 5/5
